Default 2014 VW GTI vs 2014 Ford Focus ST?

I'm looking to buy either a GTI or a Focus ST. What do you guys think of these cars?

This may sound like a cop out (and I don't like the dash/interior on either one), but, overall, I really don't see much difference between the two. The GTI has a more space-efficient boxy design if you use the cargo area to carry things. If you chose the Focus, be sure to check out the MyTouch and SYNC systems thoroughly before you sign....they have been a major source of customer complaints.

I'd go for the GTI....IMO, the Focus name is synonymous with an economy rental car, plus I've always liked the GTIs!

also, hold off for the 15 GTI if possible....or bargain like crazy on a '14!!!

amount of the discount is subject to the number of cars available in your area....but...
13s you should be able to get a great deal now
14s you should be able to get a great deal right before 15s come out....or right after Christmas...slowest time for car sales.

here's $4000 off with no haggling for a '13 (in SC tho) http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...gateId=9272206

more from same dealer...

GTI have much higher refinement and feels much more luxurious, but less performance.

Focus ST is the opposite, higher performance but less refinement and less luxury.

Pick the quality you want more

Funny how that works.

Focus ST will be more fun IMO. But yes it's not as refined. I'd still have the former in my garage if given the choice

I know I am in the minority here but I am not a big fan of VW and their quality of late. A coworker has a Focus ST and I am very impressed with the car both in terms of power and refinement. Yes, the Focus name carries the stigma of "cheap rental car" but the athleticism of the car, handling, and solidness is amazing over Focus' (Focii?) of years ago.

I would recommend test driving both and then decide. You have to be happy with your purchase, not us.
