RC-350 vs BMW 435
So was just looking at the 435 and I must say I was rather unimpressed. Not any part of the exterior of the car was appealing to me. The interior is ok, but again loving my 3IS interior that is being carried over (especially that new yellow color). The 435 just looked like another coupe with the same boring BMW front end. At least Lexus is making the RC-350 it's own style, something fresh and new.
Thought the BMW 4 series was going to be BMW's big move into the coupe, but felt nothing. Sure the 435 is going to be a little faster (guessing solely on 335 vs IS350), but I love the new look and styling of the RC-350, and when they do finally come out I'm gonna go look at them. After seeing the RC-350 officially unveiled, what are your thoughts?

Had hopes for a replacement for the beloved SC. Love the direction Lexus is heading with the RC. Waiting on the IS now. And will play the waiting game again once the RC comes out!

The price kills the 4 series for me. In Canada, a well equipped 435i is about $62k plus freight/pdi. If a similarly equipped RC is around $55, the small performance difference won't matter in the face of superior styling and interior.
On the other hand, the M235i pricing for Canada was just released, and a well equipped model will sell for about $52k. Superior performance to the 435i, which means greatly superior to the RC for what will likely be less money similarly equipped.

I just built out a 435xi on BMW website with comparable options to my 3IS f-sport, came out to $59,000 USD. Couple extra things (one I added, one was forced), but even with out those it was still $56-$57K USD. Got my 3IS for almost $10K less. I'm not expecting the prices on the RC-350 to be much, if at all, different with the 3IS. Just not seeing anything on it to charge much more. Just wish it had a manual option (only thing that wins the 435 over for me).
But sure, it will be cheaper than 435i.

I think the RC350 is better matched with the 428i in terms of performance.
435 will do 0-60 in the 4s and 428 in the mid 5s, which is where the RC will prob be at.
Also price wise - RC will be in between IS and GS.
So its unfair to make price comparisons of 435 vs IS350.
Obviously 435 will be a few thousand more.
I have not driven the 4series but I'm not overly impressed by the styling or interior quality.
To me, the E92 coupe was much nicer.
RC looks great so far with nicer looking interior....cant wait for Fsport.
I just feel the engine is underpowered.

looks are subjective. I think the new 4 series looks pretty damn good. I was at cars and coffee and saw one and people were gathering around it like the F12 that pulled up. Its new, its a BMW, and it hot. Its going to sell. The RC will sell also since Lexus is in DESPERATE need of a good looking coupe , but inevitably will have less power/torque unless Lexus streps up. Its hard to match the toque of the BMW 6 cylinder. The entire Lexus lineup is all about cary over engines. From the LS, GS, GX, RX..... All cary over. WE NEED MORE POWER CAPTAIN !!!

And in addition, the 4-series looks so close in styling and proportions to the prior 3-series coupe, which was a nice looking coupe for its time 2006-2011, but not striking enough today.

4 series should have been a 3 series four door but they reserved that for GC version so they could charge more.
Beemer goes ultra conservative with 3 series and then they make a coupe which actually looks like a proper four door car but with just two doors. To me there is nothing coupeish about any 3/4 Coupe Series, roof line is a bit more daring than the four door but not coupe enough, just like A5. That's why I always claimed that the G37 coupe was the only proper coup in the class and now we have RC.
Its not that BMW can make a coupe, just take look at the Z or 6 but they are playing super safe with 3/4

My wife was ready to order a 435ix until we found out that you can't get a beige headliner in the M-Sport. She's being driving a 330Ci for 12 years and the new 435 is considerably longer and wider and she loves the looks of it. The 435 is noticeably quicker that the 428 version as it should be for the $$. Biggest disappointment was the feel of the interior. For $60k, you should get a bit more luxury in my opinion. Not sure if she will wait for the RC to come out but it sure looks interesting.
