This is only speculation, but perhaps a package testing. The RC supposedly has a CF Package option if sources are correct

if that's the case i wouldn't be crying about new cars being so expensive now would i?

but then i see new cars on the road all the time, people buy them like no tomorrow, and sales numbers for all brands almost always go up.

i guess i am just not getting paid right

You say an M3 costing $80000 is not highway robbery just because it doesn't appeal to me, but it appeals to some people. Well then a shopping cart at $80,000 must appeal to some guy out there, therefore calling it highway robbery would also be wrong, when it clearly isn't.
didn't read previous posts, but give me M4 over jag F type anytime anyday.

The bottom line is...you can't say something is overpriced if people are willing to pay those prices for the item.

I see that in my business all the time (I'm in the real estate business), someone says "that property is overpriced". Well, they have 4 offers on it and its only been on the market a day and a half...its going to sell for more than that price...you can't say its overpriced. You can say that its not a price you would pay, or you don't see the value...but something is only overpriced if it just sits there unsold because it costs too much. BMW will sell every last one of these.

Neither. Overpriced pieces of nothing-special-anymore machinery.

Yes E9X M3 max out at $100k if you really go for it, there are tons of custom order options and tons of really pricy accessories. The orange paint alone is $5k for example.

$70k is a REALLY lightly options car. All the regular cars I see on the street average about $80k.

I checked one out the other day that I don't like, the MSRP was $84k.........and it didn't look special.

Here is one sitting on my local dealer's lot right now, nothing crazy, just regular inventory. $92k.

If it is a convertible with DCT, the base price is already over $80k I think, add a few options......

Pretty wild that this is "worth" $92K and besides the quad exhaust, hood bulge and a M badge doesn't look any more special than a 328i worth half that amount.

That is because $92k is not enough to provide an exotic look. It is the biggest thing that turns me away too, I love how this M3 drive but just can't get over how boring it looks. My SC430 is the opposite, it looks like a cool coupe with a fancy interior, but it drive very boring.

The reality is, cars are REALLY expensive. The drivetrain and chassis tuning in this M3 is very exotic and expensive, so really $92k just buy you a very exotic drivetrain with a pedestrian interior and exterior. Not to mention a prestige european brand command a premium.

You want a car that looks more exotic with this level of drivetrain, it would be a 911 GT3 at $150k.

You get what you pay for and every little thing cost money. A car that truly have everything cover is the 458 Speciale at $400k. Every cars below that price point, is lacking in one area or the other due to budget constraint.

most fancy cars are leased so prices don't mean a whole lot.

well said and sadly true. Again it goes to show how powerful a badge can be in this industry and others
