Coming Soon: BMW 2 Series Active Tourer
2014 BMW 2-Series Active Tourer caught undisguised during video shooting
On sale next year
Formerly known as the 1-Series GT, the 2014 BMW 2-Series Active Tourer has been spied without any camouflage during a video shooting.
Back in September 2012 we saw in Paris the BMW Active Tourer concept which served as a preview for this car, the 2-Series Active Tourer. It will be the first front-wheel model in BMW's lineup and will be launched in 2014 not only as a five-seater but also with a seven-seat layout. The design of the car clearly echoes the concept and should make it a worthy adversary for the Mercedes-Benz B-Class.
Riding on the front-wheel drive UKL platform, the 2-Series Active Tourer will reportedly get 3-cylinder, 1.5-liter TwinPower Turbo gasoline and diesel engines also available in the new MINI. The gasoline engines have outputs ranging from 122 HP (90 kW) to 224 HP (165 kW), while the diesels start at 82 HP (60 kW) and reach 184 HP (135 kW).
Chances are BMW plans to show the 2-Series Active Tourer next March at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.

Anyways, I can't wait to actually see this vehicle next year
P.S.
On a related note:
I'm guessing the engine bay is bigger (if not as big) as the 1 series. If so, then I guess the N55 engine from the M135i could fit in this BMW 2 Series Active Tourer.
A six cylinder engine with more than 300 horsepower for this car would be neat =)

looks good... similar to B class.
I dont know why would you put N55 in it... it is tall family MPV, hopefully they dont tune it so kids teth fall out. I bet most of these will be sold in 3cly petrol and 1.6l diesel variants accross the Europe.
Front looks like BMW, side is classic MPV but back is kind of boring. BMW doesnt really know how to resolve back properly in their GT/MPV vehicles.

I thought that BMW's even-numbered series (2, 4, 6, 8?) would be the coupes and the odd-numbered series (1, 3, 5, 7) would be the sedans?
So is the 2-series Active Tourer a 5-door coupe with 7-seat/3rd-row availability?

BMW 1 Series GT morphs into production-spec 225i Active Tourer
http://www.autoblog.com/2013/12/16/b...rer-spy-shots/
Based on the effort – and money – BMW is spending to break off the coupes and convertibles in its lineup as even-numbered models (like the new 2 Series and 4 Series), we figured the production version of the 2012 Concept Active Tourer was a lock to wear the 1 Series GT name. These spy shots paint a different picture, however, as they show the car seemingly in full showroom-ready trim during a photo shoot, wearing the 225i name indicating that it will be in the 2 Series family.
While it's still very possible that this badging is the final bit of trickery for disguising the front-wheel-drive 1 Series GT, the hatchback itself appears to be the real deal. Aside from new fascias, a smaller grille and slightly different lights, the styling of this "225i" stayed pretty true to the Concept Active Tourer. Thanks to our long-lensed photographer, we also get a brief glimpse inside the hatchback, which reveals a two-tiered instrument panel layout including the free-standing navigation display that is similar to the concept car.
Regardless of what name this new model will wear, expect it to be unveiled at next year's Geneva Motor Show in March before arriving in the US sometime in 2015.

I forgot that the 1 series (F20) is Rear Wheel Drive (with an xDrive AWD option available on some models including the M135i)
And I also forgot that this vehicle is primarily FRONT WHEEL DRIVE.
So yeah, unless there's an AWD option, it seems risky to put a six cylinder engine in it since yeah, it would be too much for the front wheels to handle alone............unless it has strong countermeasures (like the electronic steering used in the Ford Focus ST or a mechanical LSD or similar type of differential)
But yeah, if four cylinder engines will be the maximum possible size for this car, then I guess the N20 (petrol) and N47 (diesel) four cylinder engines would serve as the top-of-the-line powertrains for this new Active Tourer...

Mods can we merge the below link with this current thread? As they appear to be the same vehicle with different names:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/car...g-cover-2.html
Rename it something like "Official BMW 2-Series Active Tourer Thread"
Thanks
