This type of marketing makes me ill. It is also bad for everyone else in the world because it helps break down affordable pricing and forces society to accept higher creeping prices. Soon enough, this class of cars will have risen their base prices yet another few thousand and we'll all be in the $40's for base models. Where does it end!? And I don't buy the baby CLA taking the place of what was once the C class. It will take 10 years for the baby CLA to gain respect. In the meantime, everyone will be overpaying and the competitors will follow suit. We all lose.
Not really. The C300's specs are pretty much identical to that of the 328, not the 320i, and is therefore priced at the 328i level.

They may still introduce a C250 at a later date to compete with the 320i, which was also introduced later than the 328i,.

I made my comment because the C300 4matic is still ~$2k more than a 328i xdrive.

2k is a negligible difference when cars are priced this high. Now if we were comparing civics to cruze's it would make sense.

the whole point of luxury market is it's not for everyone. it's for people who can afford to pay the premium

I don't think $50k for a C400 is unreasonable. A loaded ES is $50k. A loaded IS is $50k. Hell...$55k for a C400...why not, its obviously $5k more car by what we've seen.

$50k is not what it used to be.

nice car, but if they change it from C class to another new class name may help selling them even more. the reputation of C class as the MB when you can't afford the real MB will be hard to erase even the cheapest MB nowadays are the CLA class.

I don't think that stigma exists as much outside the forum universe as you think.

For good reason. Have you sat in a 3-Series? Disappointing to the touch.

That's generally the same price as an S4 or 335i which is what it compares directly against.

Kind of regret getting my IS after seeing C-class. Interior is just pure luxury and all the toys, Lexus needs to catch up on tech department.

Yes, a loaded IS and ES is 50K but we are talking about a "base" C400 at close to 50K. Loaded, it can easily reach past 60K. I think they might have priced it a bit too much, or they should not force the standard sport package on the 400

A loaded 3 series can be $60k. People will pay.

$50k, $60k, whatever... there will still be $299 leases. most people rent luxury these days.
