Screen technology has improved enough to the point where the screen should persevere in sunlight.

Uhh yeah that display looks terrible. It looks even worse than the "iPad sticking out of the dash" BMW designs. This looks like an iPad clipped onto the front of the dash. I guess they'll figure out a way to integrate these screens better over time. Just looks wrong to me, but yes other than that the interior looks great!

I can get passed the tacked on Nav screen (it looks terrible, as it does in other brands), but the lack of gear shifter down low where the arm naturally lays is a deal-breaker for me. I guess I'm getting old and tired, where I just don't want both my hands up on the wheel 24-7 to shift +/- gear. From those I've seen driving next to me, they too don't drive with both hands up on the wheel. So for for those who want comfort AND to be able to manually shift the automatic, we are SOL. First BMW and Mercedes. (Even the new Dodge Ram.) I wonder if Audi will follow and ditch the console shifter. =(

Yup, that's the model we won't be getting (stick shift). 2 different center console designs. I personally like the flowing design better, it looks less interrupted and doesn't compromise the location of the multimedia controller. Here's another pic:
Is it that hard to guess that the cupholders in the auto version are concealed by the bin cover?
It's attached by quite the beefy bracket. It has to meet crash standards after all. It's not a touch screen anyways.
