in 2012 I was close to buying a Q5, but it didn't have Bluetooth sync, and there was/is no special financing deal, so I bought a 2012 mdx instead.
I just bought my 2014 rx350, and, even though I considered a Q5, and even though their reliability has gone way up from what it was, I just don't want the hassle that might come up with Audi reliability. And that is why many of us keep buying Lexus...

I had an 07 A4 2.0T and even at 30k miles, that car burned 1 quart every 1,000 miles. It was ridiculous. Just google oil consumption in Audi's 2.0T engines.

absolutely! i've never sold a car because it was worn out.

haven't driven one but Q5 looks great in person and online, and i love the variety of configurable options, an area lexus is very weak in.

Yes, my used cars are cream puffs Because I treat them like I will keep them forever. But then the desire/obsession seems to appear. Cars make a great hobby

My friend has the Q5 with the supercharged 3.0 engine. He said it's the best compromise between sport and comfort.

I guess you can call me a cheater too. I just purchased an Audi A5 with the S line competition package with the 6 spd manual and 2.0 turbo motor and its got enough power. Not as powerful as the IS350 I had, but so much more than the IS250's I have driven. Luxury is on par or a bit better than the 2008 IS350 I had.

The Q5 is great. It's highly regarded by most and reliability has improved across the board. Between Lexus and Audi, both are top brands for different reasons. I don't think you can go wrong with either. Go with where your heart is and don't look back.

My friend just bought a Q5, very nice CUV for the price. If you like it, go for it!

Audi is getting my attention too, I will consider either a S550 or Audi S8 when my

Lease is up.

Isn't it normal for Turbocharged engines to consume more oil than N/A ones?

I know my friend who has the A4 with 1.8T and it spews smoke but he says the Audi dealer told him 'that's just how they are'

I have doubts

If this will help....I personally did a review of a Q5 when it first came out, but it is now several years old.

My wife and I strongly considered the TDI version back in July, however, none were available with the S Line package until late fall. My wife really liked it but we both thought the standard suspension wasn't that impressive and the MMI was a little weird.

If MMI wasn't a bit foreign to us and my wife had any patience we probably would have ordered one.

Your doubts are correct. Audi (or VW) refuses to acknowledge the oil consumption problem. I went back and forth with Audi in Glenview, IL. I told them my supra twin turbo didn't burn any oil, and my S2000 burned only a quart every 3k miles. After 4 trips back there, the dealership finally gave my A4 an oil consumption test (which it failed) then spent 3 weeks at the dealership so they could replace its piston rings.

Here's the kicker: my loaner was a brand new A4 2.0T (2011 at the time) and after 2 weeks of driving, THAT car's low oil light also came on.

I have a 2013 Q5 2.0t. After 14 months no oil consumption. I've read some things that Audi may have corrected whatever was causing it in some vehicles. Fingers crossed, but not worried at this point.

Yep...2012+ engines have different pistons/rings.

We looked at the Audis and really liked them, but the interior was just too small, so we went with the RX. Our jogging stroller was too tight a fit in the Q5. (First world problems…)

Same thing happened to my mom with her 2000 celica gt. Toyota refused to acknowledge or fix the problem. Instead they changed the pistons/piston rings for the 2003-2005 engines.
