People might not like to hear it, but having a strong SUV Section is a must.

The people who still deny Luxury SUVS as part of the Brand need to wake up now and admit that it is now considered an essential part.

I'm not sure what you mean. It seems like most brands already realize this. Just look around at the domestic and import premium brands and nearly all of them are well represented and are selling well.

there has never been more SUVs and Crossovers than currently offered be it Luxury or Mainstream.

BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Lexus, Land Rover all have a large number of them, Cadillacs portfolio is expanding, Jaguar is entering the game..

I have to agree with LexBob2, this thread is odd and makes no sense.

Big SUVs, though, wouldn't be as popular as they are now if it wasn't for the fact that big traditional body-on-frame station-wagons with V8s (which could haul and tow quite a bit) were pretty much taken off the market decades ago. Buyers, deprived of these big wagons, looked to big SUVs as big towing/hauling/all-weather substitutes.

Let's have a quick accounting, in alphabetical order:

Acura: 7 total models, 3 SUVs
Audi: 11 total models, 3 SUVs
BMW: 11 total models, 4 SUVs
Infiniti: 7 total models, 4 SUVs
Jaguar: 4 total models, 0 SUVs
Cadillac: 6 total models, 2 SUVs
Lincoln: 5 total models, 3 SUVs
Lexus: 9 total models, 3 SUVs
Mercedes: 17 total models, 6 SUVs
Porsche: 7 total models, 2 SUVs
Range Rover: 5 total models, 5 SUVs

So I suppose if this is intended as an indictment of Jaguar, it would be relevant. Otherwise, seriously? All the relevant brands have substantial SUV portfolios. Holy non-sequitur batman!

Good recap. From the beginning, I didn't understand the point of the thread.

Keep in mind Jaguar plans to have their own SUV soon

C-X17 Concept

Admittedly, it's difficult nowadays to discount the possibility of almost any SUV selling, regrdless of badge. But, frankly I just don't see that much of a market for a Jaguar-badged SUV. The Jag-oriented crowd has been too busy, for too long, shopping Land Rover for their SUV needs. And, compared to its competitors, Jaguar, typically, doesn't get that many customers in the first place.

Good point Mike. If we combine Jaguar and Land Rover as if they were a single marque, we get 9 total models, 5 of which are SUVs. Seems very much in line with the other luxury brands.

I don't think that will stop them from building the C-X17 though.

While Jaguar won't ever reach BMW or Lexus sales numbers, their sales should increase when this Jagaur "XS" (3-Series fighter) comes to fruition.

Maserati is even rolling out an SUV, hopefully not with the Kubang name though

The confusion in this thead and with the OP relates to the title and definition of SUV and CUV / crossovers names. Truck-based SUV's have been in decline due to their poor fuel mileage. Lighter and more efficient car-based crossover vehicles or "cute SUV's" (CUV) have taken their place and are rapidly growing in numbers with all manufacturers. (see chart above).
Yes, there are still a decent amount of SUV holdouts, but they don't sell in the numbers they did back in the 90's.
