To be fair the 2014 Equus is a refresh, so the 2013 isn't the same vehicle as new on the lot. But that depreciation is still pretty terrible.

Hyundai was actually slow to get a lease program started (I don't know why). Several dealerships, in response to my question, when I was reviewing Hyundais here on CL, said that they initially had resistance from Hyundai's financial arm trying to get the programs started.

Your policy might not be a bad idea. If you use your car in business (according to how the IRS defines buisness-use) you can deduct the monthly payments. I'm not sure, though, about the down payment.
