Default New BRZ/FRS or used Porsche Cayman?

Consider these thoughts:
  • New Scion FRS with manual tranny sells for approx $26k, Subaru BRZ for $28k at dealership.
  • Used Porsche Cayman (non-S) of the previous generation for the same price at a dealership after negotiations will probably be a 2009 with 65k miles (KBB figures).
[I will leave older Cayman generations out of this comparison.]

Options aside, let's use these two cars for the comparison.

2014 BRZ/FRS manual:
200hp
151 torque
35/25 mpg
2776 lb curb weight

2009 Porsche Cayman (non-S, with 65k miles):
265 hp
221 torque
19/27 mpg
2932 lb curb weight

And also consider warranty, maintenance, insurance, and resale.

WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE?

DISCUSS.

my buddy gary just picked up a Cayman S used. 07 with only 21k miles . Its insane and way better of a car. These cars are not that hard to find with low miles. I vote for the Cayman

I vote Cayman based on the sound of the engine alone.

Depends on ur plans for it.

If u like to mod the car and/or put lots of miles as a DD then FRS/BRZ is the way to go.
If u want a garage queen that u use on the weekend - Cayman would be good.

I personally wouldnt buy a Porsche out of warranty unless you know a good shop or are mechanically inclined.

My own choice would have to go to the Cayman. FR-S is too pleblian for my tastes

The MPG for FR-S/BRZ is wrong. That's for auto. Manual is 22/30.

dude its a Porsche!!!

You will be much happier in a Caymen than a FRS/BRZ, as long as its a manual!

Price wise, its like buy a used Lexus SC430 for 20k or buy a new Toyota Corolla.

I vote for fast reliable goat. Uses Grass, beer cans, and dirty goat diapers for fuel, and it will eat anybody's lunch you choose.

Your more of a Porsche Caymen type of guy, it's a phenomenal partywagon for your friends

If this will be your daily driver. Porsche since it is more refined. If you want just a fun to drive raw car then neither... get a S2000.
