2014 Ford Explorer Sport-pics, minor commentary
Just brought home Wednesday, and as recommended by Hoovey2411, here are some photos and opinions so far. I have only had 1 mile on the highway, where the EcoBoost seems to excel. And I haven't driven the car hard enough to give impressions on the good stuff, the off road capability, etc.. I will say I feel like we got a lot of car for the $. I did not realize that these cars were essentially moved at MSRP. I can grab some interior pictures if people care to see. They are going to paint the door handles to match the color, on the dealership. They are not marked up like the Raptor, however. Quickly, just to get the thread started.
Pros: power folding mirrors (my 2013 GS doesn't have them-2014 does), custom tail gate height setting, the Ecoboost V6, illuminated door sills (scuff plates-again, not on my GS), the handling/suspension-drives like a car in the parking lot, and the interior lighting-cup holders, door panels, floors and bucket seats!
Cons: cheap looking "lower bodyside cladding"-I know its a 4X4 with off road abilities, but they could have color matched it, no HID or LED headlamps (will be on 2015), TPMS doesn't display actual PSI.
Those members with competitors (Acadias, Durangos, Grand Cherokee's,) please chime in and let me know what I may have missed out on in picking the Explorer. I feel like this car can be compared with MANY different SUV's from all makes. Thanks for reading.

The color matched door handles will be a nice touch especially since other than the badges there is no chrome trim. The custom tail gate height is great, something the RX doesn't even offer (even a new Pathfinder has that) . Wow so you have halogen headlights? Even the rear taillights are LED. Good news is at least the headlights are projector so perhaps you can just add a HID bulb later. How is the Sony Audio System? Dual Panel Moonroof and Blind-Spot Monitor

definitely like the new ones.... since there painting the door handles have them paint the black lower body molding... Then it won't look so cheap like you said...

Great pick up! I came very close to buying an Explorer Limited with a very similar pricetag but backed out. I wasn't impressed with the AWD system at all. I didn't like how small the mirrors were either. Everything else was great and I loved the deep well behind the third row seats, the tech, and the looks.

Congrats to you GSthe4th for your purchase. You definitely can't go wrong with the new Explorer
Anyways personally, I feel that this version and the Limited 4x4 (with 3.5 NA V6) are the only two variants that should be chosen for the new Explorer.
Hence, I didn't feel that the 4x2 version (with 2.0 T Ecoboost) is worth it for this car........but that's just me.

Good luck with your Ford. I have a 2012 Ford Edge Sport and I had high hopes that Ford turned things around but their quality is still severely lacking and regretting buying a Ford. Just so many minor issues that I'm having to get something fixed at every oil change. Hope you have better luck with your Ford.
