There's definitely some LS460 rumpus going on there, but the LS460's rear was arguably derived from BMW cues to start with.

2016 BMW 7-Series rendered based on spy shots
The next generation BMW 7-Series (G11) has been rendered once again, prior to this year's official launch.
This latest digital interpretation is based on the spy shots which emerged on New Year's Eve depicting an undisguised prototype featuring an evolutionary design. On the inside it will likely get the touchscreen iDrive system and a TouchCommand rear seat control system previewed last month at CES. While the first one is self-explanatory, the second system is basically a Samsung tablet featuring a special BMW app which allows rear seat passengers to control most of the car’s functions.
Hiding underneath the familiar design is an entirely new car based on BMW's upcoming "35up" platform which combines aluminum with carbon fiber and high-strength steel. The new lightweight construction should grant a 200 kg (440 lbs) weight loss compared to the outgoing model. The massive diet should allow BMW install a four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine inside the base model where it will likely develop 260 HP (191 kW).
Several newly developed six-cylinder engines are planned along with a plug-in hybrid version likely getting a four-cylinder gasoline motor teamed up with an electric motor to provide a combined output of 300 HP (220 kW). There's also going to be a V12 6.6-liter from the Rolls-Royce Ghost and Wraith which will generate around 600 HP (441 kW). Sitting on top of the range will likely be an M750i version featuring the V8 4.4-liter twin-turbo engine from the M5 but further tweaked to develop in excess of 600 HP.
The next generation BMW 7-Series is expected to receive its public reveal in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

By the time BMW saw the LF-Sh Concept in October 2005, it was likely too late to alter the appearance of the F01. BMW redid the E90 3-Series in 2003 (after Fall 2002 design freeze), when they learned via suppliers Audi's B7 A4 would have similar taillights. That was a very expensive redo.
Both the XF40 LS and F01 7-Series were evolutionary corrections of the E65 7-Series flaws, hence the similarities. As is the evolutionary design direction BMW and Adrian Van Hooydonk (the laziest BMW design chief ever) chose to go in for the G11 in 2011-12.
