Insurance screwed me on my 3IS!! HELP!

Wow, $6K/year?? In many cases, getting older isn't necessarily a good thing, but this is definitely one area where it can be a plus! I pay just over $1600/year for full coverage on my IS-F and a '12 Highlander. Good luck to OP. Drive safe and hopefully insurance costs will improve over time.

Differs by state. Some states require proof of insurance to renew tags. Some states just give the driver a ticket with nominal fine if no insurance, so nothing really happens until 3rd or 4th ticket.

I believe in Utah, they imound your car on the first go. I had a friend who had his car impounded for driving without insurance, and it was his first time that it happened.
They can also take your license as well. Then you have to carry SR22 from an insurance company to ever drive again.
