Looks cosmetic to me simply from a picture. Underneath could be a different story. Sorry to see this

On a car that old, a lot depends on the quality of the repair. A simple, El Cheapo, cover-up repair may not total it...a very good one might.

Sorry to see this. What kind of vehicle hit you?

Looks like a trunk lid and bumper, maybe 2-3K. I think your car is worth at least double that so I doubt it's a write off.

I see the Ram lived up to its name. Looks like it had something added to the front to cause that odd damage?

To you its not totaled to the insurance company it might be depending on where they get the new parts and who fixes it.

Is your car pearl white?

Hardest part of that whole repair is getting the pearl white on the bumper and deck lid to match up to existing paint. Looks like the damage is all cosmetic, it will require a new deck lid, new bumper cover, and new bumper under that cover. I doubt he damaged the unibody part of the car.

Yes the car has pearl white paint. Thanks everyone for you info. I'm calling my insurance company tomorrow and hopefully they will not total it since I already have it paid off.

even if ins. declares it 'totalled' you can take what they give you and get it repaired.

to me, from the pic, i suspect the repair cost will be higher than the vehicle is worth, so they will total it, which means it may cost you extra to get it repaired if you want to keep it.

if it ends up getting totaled, i would certainly buy it back. it may be easy to find a good condition bumper and trunk in your color in a yard, and the car is still drivable, just not pretty. i would never pay the rediculious price to have removable body pieces repainted, especially on a car as old as yours. used parts will be "faded" just as much as yours are, and the fact the car is still drivable means that you can drive it while you find the parts.
