Which One Should I Get? Camaro ZL1 or Jaguar F-Type R?
As a kid, I was a Chevy guy, and I always admired the Camaro. But I only admired the really souped up Camaros, not the no-frills versions most people were buying and driving. Today, as an adult, I thought I'd moved away from Camaro-lust, in part because I also insist on certain electronic toys with my cars. For example, on board navigation system and screen is non-negotiable with me. No navigation screen--no buy. No exceptions. I have other non-negotiables but won't go into them right now.
Recently, I've been contemplating my next car after my lease runs out on my GS350 in 2015. Do I buy it? Do I lease another 4GS? Do I move on to another brand (I'm not particularly brand loyal)? I've had my eye on the new Jaguar F-Type R Coupe. ONe reason is acceleration. 4.0 or better in 0 - 60 tests. It's the quickest of the new F-Type Jags. The problem: price. It's over six figures.
I've started thinking about what I used to like and have been checking out the today's Camaros. Wouldn't you know it but the ZL1 now comes with on board navigation! It's as quick as the quickest Jaguar F-Type (sub 4.0) and after loading it with preferred options (like navigation) the price comes to low 60s. That's 40,000 dollars less than the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe, which means it can whip the F-Type S and destroy the F-Type base model which will cost at least 10K more with preferred options. I admit that without the navigation system, I would not consider the ZL1. (I love my conveniences).
I'm a middle class guy and would have to stretch for the F-Type R Coupe, but it's doable. The ZL1 cost a couple of grand more than my Lexus 4GS, so it's easily doable. The Jaguar is my dream "mid-life crisis" car. It has cache, panache, and class. The ZL1 is common, regular Joe stuff but it harkens back to my teen years when it was my dream car. I'm torn. Today's dream, or yesterday's dream? I honestly don't know which way to go.

If you're talking about passion you must be an enthusiast for the Camaro because other than some good powertrain engineering I find little 'passion' for the Chevy whereas the Jaguar oozes substance. Frankly if you don't want to compromise I don't understand the point of this thread if you're not willing to shell out money for the F-Type? If that's what you want do it, never settle I completely agree. Vette was simply a suggestion by a member because you have a hardcore track focused raw ZL1 at one end and a refined luxurious sort of raw GT like the F-Type R at the other, a Vette may be very well be the sweet spot for someone who wants better interior and handling than the Camaro and less price than the F-Type would be considered

Please just drive the Jag and u will forget any other car.
One of the best looking designs EVER, 550hp plus amazing exhaust. I had the pleasure to drive one recently and its amazing.
Negatives for me are price $105k, No backseat, trunk is almost non-existent.
I need to fit car seat for my daughter.
