Default Tokyo Auto Salon reveals possible new RX Toyota Harrier

"There's an Elegance version of the Harrier – similar to the Lexus RX we get Stateside – with a sports suspension dropped by 1.4 inches, upgraded brakes, an aggressively restyled front end and an enhanced interior."

That looks horrendous. Oh lets just make the front one big grill and call it a day.

Toyota need to stop experimenting with those grilles. Some are too ridiculous and hard to look at.

The interior looks great though. But agree with Toyota having too many random grillz in their lineup. I guess it's commendable that they are "old-school" in the sense that their models have unique looks? lol

Seats have a nice design to them and look like they hold the occupant well.

But we do not know if the 2016 RX will be based on this current Harrier. This new generation of Harrier is smaller than the RX, being based on the RAV4 platform and not Kluger / Highlander (which is Camry-based) platform that the RX is based on.

new Harrier is based on Rav4, it has nothing to do with RX anymore as Sulu said.

But AB does not know that, too much research needed (2 minutes?) :-).

As to the Harrier, together with Crown and new Esquire, it is base of "new" Toyota "premium" line in Japan. All of them are selling crazy good at near-luxury prices, and are another proof that they wont be chasing Lexus volume, otherwise these cars would never exist.

Right now between Harrier, Crown, Mark X and Esquire, they are likely outselling Lexus range in Japan 5:1.

Which is great. Terrible to stop for fuel with your first or second generation RX350 and a Harrier also pulls in and the petrol attendant wants to know if your Lexus is just a rebadged Toyota. We do get them here, of course never officially imported, they filtered in from neighbouring countries like Mozambique which has no or few restrictions on importation of secondhand vehicles.
Ever had a look on sites for secondhand Japanese vehicles? Ridiculously low mileage Harriers can be had for a song, but we're not allowed to import them, unless you have an address in a neighbouring country and then it still takes three years to re-register it in South Africa.

I think the grill would be more reserved (and may work in the American market) if the crossbar under the grill and above the lower vent was body colored.

Otherwise, I love the look of the rest of the car. The seats look very stylish and would be an awesome addition if it trickled to the RX/NX.

well whole point of this grille is to make special edition stand out in Japan... regular one is too reserved imho.

Yes. But a "regular" one for the US would work.

This would work on a Rav4, especially with Toyota's new design trend with big lower grills.
