FCA expands Jeep Cherokee recall to 68k more vehicles
May 12, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is expanding by an estimated 62,148 vehicles its recall of U.S.-market SUVs** to upgrade air-bag software.
The action follows a routine review of the originally reported vehicle population by FCA US engineers. There have been no additional incidents and FCA US is unaware of any related injuries or accidents.
The campaign will upgrade software that governs side-curtain and seat-mounted side air bags following a small number of inadvertent deployments – most of which occurred in harsh, off-road environments. They were prompted by maneuvers that dramatically changed the vehicles' angle of operation, relative to the ground, and the air-bag systems – sensing potential rollover conditions – automatically activated.
The software upgrade will recalibrate the threshold for deployment and the vehicles will remain compliant with all applicable safety regulations.
Affected are certain 2014 and 2015 Jeep Cherokees. The revised estimate for the U.S. totals 230,240. Revised estimates for other markets are as follows: 28,110 in Canada; 6,367 in Mexico and 52,057 outside the NAFTA region. The revised global total is 316,774 – a difference of 68,593.
The Company will notify affected customers. Software will be available at that time.

FCA recalls Ram dualie chassis cabs to recalibrate top speed
Statement: Speed Recalibration
May 15, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is voluntarily recalling an estimated 1,771 trucks in the U.S. to recalibrate their maximum speed.
The dual-wheel trucks are currently restricted to a top speed of 106 miles per hour (mph), but an internal specification review revealed top speed should be set at 87 mph, in accordance with their factory-equipped tires.
The Company is unaware of any related injuries, accidents or customer complaints.
Dealers will recalibrate vehicle speed accordingly. While FCA believes it is unlikely that these trucks are operated at such speeds, and that doing so would exceed posted speed limits in nearly every applicable jurisdiction, the Company is acting out of an abundance of caution.
The campaign is limited to certain model-year 2014-15 Ram 4500/5500 Chassis Cabs equipped with 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 engines. An additional 169 vehicles are believed to be in Canada.
Affected customers will be advised when they may schedule service. Customers with questions may call the FCA US Customer Information Center at 1-800-853-1403.

May 15, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is voluntarily recalling an estimated 72 cars in the U.S. to inspect and tighten or install a bolt that secures a side-curtain air bag.
Post-assembly inspections discovered some vehicles produced during a 10-day period this year may have loose or missing bolts. The bolt is designed to secure a side-curtain air bag which, if improperly installed, may not provide full protection.
The Company is unaware of any related injuries, accidents or customer complaints.
An automated assembly-line verification process has been implemented to prevent recurrence.
The campaign is limited to certain model-year 2015 Dodge Challengers. An additional six vehicles are believed to be in Canada, while three are in Mexico.
Affected customers will be advised when they may schedule service.
Customers with questions may call the FCA US Customer Information Center at 1-800-853-1403.

Porsche 918 Spyder recalled over bad wiring harness
Porsche recalling 918 Spyder models for service inspection
Precautionary recall: affected customers will be contacted directly
Atlanta. Porsche has issued a global recall for 918 Spyder models that have already been delivered. This precautionary recall for a service inspection affects 223 vehicles in the United States. This is because the electric wiring harness for a radiator fan in vehicles manufactured up until the end of April 2015 could be damaged by a carbon-fiber component. The wiring harness will be examined and optimally remounted in the work shop.
The cause was identified following a detailed examination of inquiries. Corrective measures have subsequently been taken in manufacturing. The owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted directly by Porsche Cars North America. The service visit, which will be free of charge, will be arranged as quickly as possible and the inspection will likely require the vehicle to be left in the shop for half a day.

Ford announces two recalls, 442k vehicles affected in North America
FORD ISSUES TWO SAFETY RECALLS IN NORTH AMERICA
DEARBORN, Mich., May 27, 2015 – Ford is issuing two safety recalls in North America. Four minor accidents and no injuries are attributed to one of these conditions. Details are as follows:
Ford issues safety recall for certain 2011-2013 Ford Taurus and Flex vehicles, Lincoln MKS and MKT vehicles, for certain 2011-2012 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles, and for certain 2011 Mercury Milan vehicles in North America for potential issue with electric power steering
Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 423,000 vehicles (actual 422,814) including certain 2011-2013 Ford Taurus and Flex vehicles, Lincoln MKS and MKT vehicles, for certain 2011-2012 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles, and for certain 2011 Mercury Milan vehicles in North America for a potential intermittent electrical connection in the steering gear that might result in the loss of electric power steering assist while driving. If this happens, the steering system defaults to manual steering mode, making the vehicle more difficult to steer, especially at lower speeds. This could result in the increased risk of a crash.
Ford is aware of four minor accidents that might be related to this condition, but no injuries.
Affected vehicles include certain 2011-2013 Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT vehicles built at Oakville Assembly Plant Sept. 7, 2010 to Feb. 28, 2012; certain 2011-2012 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles built at Hermosillo Assembly Plant Sept. 7, 2010 to Feb. 28, 2012; certain 2011 Mercury Milan vehicles built at Hermosillo Assembly Plant Sept. 7, 2010 to Dec. 10, 2010; and certain 2011-2013 Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS vehicles built at Chicago Assembly Plant Sept. 7, 2010 to Feb. 28, 2012.
There are 393,622 vehicles in the United States and federalized territories, 25,195 in Canada and 3,997 in Mexico.
Dealers will perform one of two service fixes, depending upon whether certain diagnostic trouble codes are present in the vehicle. They will either update software for the power steering control module or replace the steering gear.
Ford issues safety recall for certain 2015 Ford Mustang vehicles with a 2.3 liter engine in North America for elevated underbody temperatures
Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 19,500 2015 Ford Mustang vehicles with a 2.3 liter engine (actual 19,486) for elevated underbody temperatures in North America. Prolonged exposure to elevated underbody temperatures might cause degradation of the fuel tank and fuel vapor lines, which could eventually result in a fuel leak. In addition, prolonged exposure to elevated underbody temperatures might cause the parking brake cable seals to degrade, potentially affecting parking brake functions. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire. Impaired parking brake function could result in unexpected vehicle movement, which might increase the risk of injury.
Ford is not aware of any accidents, injuries or fires resulting from this condition.
Affected vehicles include certain 2015 Ford Mustang vehicles built Feb. 14, 2014 to Feb. 10, 2015 at Flat Rock Assembly Plant.
There are 19,095 vehicles in the United States and federalized territories, and 391 in Canada.
Dealers will replace the current fuel tank shield with a shield with better insulating capability, install thermal patches on the fuel tank and parking brake cable, and install thermal wraps on the fuel vapor lines.
