Default Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Special Edition

INSPIRED BY RACING: THE ASTON MARTIN VANTAGE GT3 SPECIAL EDITION
Aston Martin is today revealing the first details of its most potent and uncompromising Vantage to date: the track-inspired Vantage GT3 special edition.

With production strictly limited to just 100 examples, the new model combines all of Aston Martin’s learning from its years of sports car competition around the globe to produce its most performance focused road-going Vantage.

Equipped with a new iteration of the brand’s 6.0-litre V12 engine which is capable of generating up to 600 PS1, the car weighs in at 100kg less than a standard V12 Vantage S.

Comprehensively re-engineered, as well as significantly restyled, the GT3-inspired special edition is lower and wider than any of its siblings in the Vantage family. A broader track – front and rear – brings even more composed cornering thanks to a reduction in lateral load transfer, while the use of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres provides even more assured handling.

Thoroughly equipped with cutting edge motorsport-inspired features, from the extensive use of carbon fibre inside and out to the track-focused aerodynamics pack – which includes a prominent rear wing and pronounced front splitter – the race-derived new Vantage brings more focused and uncompromising capability and styling to a road-going Aston Martin.

The aerodynamics package in particular has a profound effect, producing significant downforce to provide even greater levels of grip and stability at higher speeds.

Inspired by Aston Martin Racing’s successful campaigns, this new GT3-derived Vantage has been designed and engineered exclusively at Aston Martin’s Gaydon Headquarters in Warwickshire, England, to be the most overt expression of everything that defines Vantage: an inspirational sports model offering supreme driveability on the road, and uncompromising dynamic performance on track.

New flared carbon fibre front wings, carbon fibre bonnet, a lithium ion race-derived battery, carbon-fibre door casings, optional carbon fibre roof, optional weight-saving polycarbonate rear window and rear quarter windows are just a few of the measures which illustrate the engineers’ determination to eliminate mass wherever possible. That determination has paid off, too, as the new car weighs in at only 1,565 kg2.

Under the skin lie a number of bespoke engineering upgrades, aside from the new 600 PS1 V12 engine. Magnesium inlet manifolds with revised geometry, a lightweight magnesium torque tube and a full titanium exhaust system with centre outlets are just a few of the features that underline the rigorous re-engineering of this exclusive new Vantage.

The car’s interior is comprehensively reworked, too, with a full carbon fibre centre stack and touch-sensitive control array; race-derived carbon fibre sports seats; Alcantara trim and the option of numerous bespoke features courtesy of the brand’s popular personalisation service: Q by Aston Martin.

Announcing the arrival of the Vantage GT3 special edition, Aston Martin CEO Dr Andy Palmer said: “Motorsport is in our blood at Aston Martin. The Vantage is the car we campaign in top level sports car racing around the world and so it seems only fitting that we offer an exclusive, limited edition Vantage that expertly fuses our motorsport know-how with our road car prowess.”

He added: “The Vantage GT3 special edition is an uncompromising example of our design and engineering expertise and I’m sure the 100 owners who secure one of these cars will savour every second behind the wheel; whether on the road or on the track.”

The Vantage GT3 special edition will make its public debut on 3 March at the 85th Geneva International Motor Show (Hall 5, Stand 5253), with first customer deliveries beginning in the third quarter of 2015.

1 Predicted power output
2 Predicted kerb weight

The new race-inspired Aston Martin Vantage GT3 is the most powerful and focused road model that the company has made.

We got some alone time with the limited edition Aston Martin Vantage GT3. Only 100 will ever be made and it's lighter, faster and stiffer than any standard Vantage. We like.

Although AM is working with AMG on new powertrains, its great to see AM's Racing program continue to further enhancements to the current generation which has aged gracefully

Thank you for posting this Motor

Default Aston Martin Vantage GT3: Full details and exclusive video

Aston Martin's limited run Vantage GT3 is a 592bhp track-focused monster headed for a full unveil at this year's Geneva Motor Show. XCAR got an exclusive first look.

Only 100 of these £250,000 ($384,000 or AU$490,000) monsters will make their way on to the road when they're delivered this autumn. Having spent some time with one, it's hard to imagine Aston will have any trouble selling all 100 rather quickly -- it's a truly special piece of kit. Just listen to it.

Its 6.0-litre V12 has been fettled using lightweight magnesium components, while its exhaust system is made from the finest titanium. The lightweight love doesn't stop at the under-the-skin bits, though: it covers pretty much everything the eye can see.

The entire body, aside from the doors, is carbon fibre, and you can spec a carbon fibre roof as well. The rear and rear three quarter windows can be specced as polycarbonate, too, if you think glass is a little gauche. There's plenty more things you can have in carbon fibre if you have the readies.

Aston reckons that all its Chapman-esque lightweightery has shaved 100kg (220 pounds) off the car's weight compared to the standard Vantage.

The interior has been given a decent spruce as well. The centre console's been updated somewhat with a touch-sensitive control array and there's carbon fibre...everywhere.

To ensure it's good on track, as well as the engine changes, there's a hard-to-miss aero pack. The massive wing, skirts and chin spoiler add huge amounts of downforce in a bid to ensure it doesn't slide itself off the road at speed. Aston says it has twice the aero load of a GT4 Vantage and seven times that of a normal V12 Vantage S.

Performance figures aren't confirmed yet, but Aston's super-educated guess is 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds and a top speed in the region of 185mph. The 0-60 time makes it the second fastest Aston ever made, after the One-77, and its top speed is justified when you think of how much aero is bolted on board.

As a package, it's pretty cool. Especially when you note that the badge on the nose and tail is machined carbon. 100? They'd shift 500 with ease...

The Aston Martin Vantage GT3 will be formally unveiled at the Geneva auto show in March.

Default New Vantage GT3 is Aston Martin's Most Track Focused Production Car Ever

Yes, it's another special edition Aston Martin Vantage, but this one promises to be the most potent and uncompromising version to date.

Named the Vantage GT3, it's inspired by the firm's GT3 racecar and it will have its world premiere at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show before going on sale in a strictly limited production run of just 100 examples in the third quarter of the year.

You can think of it as Aston's answer to the Porsche 911 GT3, a car that bridges the gap between the road going Vantage S Coupe and the Vantage GT3 racer.

Aston tweaked the Vantage S' 6.0-liter V12 engine to deliver an additional 27hp at 592hp (600PS) and 4 lb-ft of torque at 461 lb-ft. Among other upgrades found under the hood are the magnesium inlet manifolds with revised geometry, a lightweight magnesium torque tube and a full titanium exhaust system with center outlets. The V12 is paired to a seven-speed automated manual transmission driving the rear wheels.

The British firm's efforts to reduce weight didn't stop at the engine bay, as the GT3 gets new flared carbon fiber front wings, carbon fiber bonnet, a lithium ion race-derived battery, carbon-fiber door casings plus optional carbon fiber roof and polycarbonate rear windows to shed a total of 100kg or 220 pounds over the Vantage S, with the new car weighing in at 1,565kg or 3,450 lbs.

The GT3 gets wider tracks on both ends along with a retuned suspension, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes and 19-inch magnesium alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires size 265/35 at the front and 325/30 at the rear.

Aston Martin's designers made no attempt to hide the car's track-orientated nature gifting the GT3 with an extensive aerodynamic package featuring contrasting colors on the outside, and a reworked cabin that gets race-derived carbon fiber sports seats and steering wheel, plus a full carbon fiber center stack and a touch-sensitive control array.

AM didn't have the $$$ for a drawn out court battle with Porsche over the GT3 moniker which I agree is a Class they mirrored the name after. I'm surprised Mercedes AMG GT3 has not been scrutinized either. They have no problem with in house Bentley Continental GT3... VW
