It's not going to be cheap, but it won't be 70k either. The current lackluster MKS starts at $38k so I think this will start at $45-50k.

I think that Lincoln should give this new Continental rear suicide doors. Give it a link to the classic 1960s Continentals.

Such great presence! I like a lot of the newer Lincoln's like the MKC and MKX, but this this a step above. A good direction for the brand to regain some former glory and the Lincoln exclusive 3.0 V6 EcoBoost helps Lincoln continue to distance itself from Ford

Love it! I wouldn't buy it right now, but maybe in 20 years when I calm down with my boy-racer antics.

But that thing has got presence in spades. Great job, Lincoln. Build it just like that....

Can't wait to see the finished product. I hope it ends up with a good level of detail like the concept. Lincoln has a habit of numbing down the real thing. Also hope they offer the concepts dark blue.

Looks like it will be going up against the Cadillac CT6, which is also no slouch of a new flagship, either.

I'll save final comment on both of these cars, though, until I see and drive them in person.

Not going to go up against the CT6 with a FWD transverse layout and a Taurus platform. The CT6 is designed to compete with the legitimate flagship full size cars.

My guess is we will wind up with a car like the XTS that looks impressive but is flawed and disappointing in execution.

While this might in fact end up as the case. I look on the brighter side and hope that this is more Audi like in its mechanicals execution and that what Ford has learned from the Focus RS and other FWD based AWD systems will be applied to make for a very nice handling and driving car. No doubt this will most likely not be a hardcore sports sedan, but it would be cool if all goes well that at some point Linclon gives this model a performance variant with lets say 500hp and more taut handling characteristics, magnetic suspension, performance based trans, etc. I truly pull for Lincoln on this one.

I think it will, to some extent. Vehicles that compete against each other in the marketplace don't always have the same drivetrain layout or type of platform. The Subaru Legacy, with its boxer engine and standard symmetrical AWD, is a good example....it competes against a number of mid-sized sedans with primarily transverse engines and FWD/AWD.

The XTS interior is impressive (much better than the DTS it replaces), and it offers the AWD traction the DTS lacked, but the underpinnings, suspension and wheels/tires IMO, are not flagship-grade in ride comfort or refinement. And, the one I drove had a higher-speed shimmy in the front end/steering wheel that the factory later acknowledged was a defect with a TSB.....not traceable to the usual sources of unbalanced or out-of-round tires.

If the Continental has any level of success, I'm not sure the drivetrain layout will be a big factor with the target Lincoln buyer. It might be in order to expand the appeal of the model, but initially maybe not so much.
