Well said. I think the Continental is more interesting than the LS. G90 is OK. LS500 over G90.

Continentals also start at a far lower price than an LS.

Also, from the front, be sure not to confuse the Continental with the MKZ. You virtually cannot tell the difference until you get to the rear window/roofline and trunk. That may (?) account for some of the "Continentals" that you see.

I thought the same thing, I think with a bump in the interior to Navigator quality and it getting on a RWD platform they could have a decent seller on their hands, I have a soft spot for the current Continental, it is my favorite American made sedan being sold right now and I think they look pretty nice inside and out, especially in black and white. Is Lincoln really going to just be a all SUV company now if they kill the Continental, that is lame.

Sales of the G90 are nonexistent.
Not too long ago it was in 2nd or 3rd place in its category, it was beating LS, Continental, A8, XJ sales, think it beat 7 series a month or two, when the dealership fiasco happened, its sales plummeted along with the G80, G80 sales were impressive last year for its category considering it is from a new brand.

I very rarely see a Continental and when I do, its almost always a livery vehicle.

I have started to see more LS500s. I probably see 1-2 a month.

Lexus will never sell more LS sedans than they do now.
Of course they will......simply make it an LS again, instead of a BMW. Thats what dried the sales up. Listen to what Steve is saying.

Almost every single sedan model is suffering a decline. There is no going back.
That's (partly) the attitude that got GM into the mess they are in today.

I really do agree that the LS500 would do much better if it stuck to the same LS formula and made a car that better competed with the S Class. If you look at LCertified cars, there are a LOT of very low mileage 2018 LS500s. Lot of them on Mercedes, BMW lots too. My guy at the dealer says they get a lot of previous LS owners who buy them and drive them for a month or so and bring them back and trade them in because they dont like the new feel.

Certainly sedans are in decline, but the LS' poor performance is not just because of that.

I really like the looks of the new LS500, and I like the look and materials of the interior, its just too tight inside and too low and too firm. Doesnt feel at all like an LS at a time when the S Class and 7 Series and A8 are more "LS like" than ever.

lol... 'never' is a long time. and i disagree completely. i believe lexus will turn it around. an ev LS with a more practical design/space would sell better than the current one!

i consider the ls500 to be fancy but not innovative. my g90 could probably also be considered fancy but not innovative but it is 20K less expensive and it's certainly roomier.

again so definitive. and i disagree. 20 years ago whoever was saying suvs/crossovers would FAR outsell sedans was probably considered insane. well here we are.

the tesla 3 shows a new innovative SEDAN can make a real dent in the market, especially in places like California and many european countries.

if the range anxiety and quality become less of a perceived issue, the 3 could take off even further. and the y is really just a taller 3 - is it a crossover? i don't really care what it's called, but is it more practical? sure.

even the distinction between 'sedan' and 'crossover' is getting more and more blurred. bmw contributed to that with 'gran coupes', subaru with its outback station wagon / crossover, then there's kia soul, niro, hyundai kona.

honda and toyota continue to sell probably over 100K sedans a month so they're not going away any time soon. did see an interesting article the other day from a tesla fanboy site asking why would anyone buy an accord or camry when a tesla 3 is as roomy, faster, safer, and cheaper to operate. good question!

I'd say expect a pretty big refresh in a year or two for the LS500. Won't change the size or shape until the next redesign (if there even is another LS) but I'm sure they'll be addressing the complaints.

Maybe, just maybe, they'll drop the V8 that I know Lexus is developing in it.
