2016 Nissan Maxima Unveiled

Just as are a lot of styling elements in cars these days that serve no practical purpose but they nevertheless give a car style (fancy LED headlight rims, fake carbon fibre, side vents) These will appeal to some while alienating others. I see no harm if they incorporate a sporty element into the car.

I don't think it looks bad, a bit too much like a Mazda 6. I still
Like the look of the 2000-03 better. The interior looks pretty nice and sporty. I hoped they finally made an SE-R model like my Alty. Good job overall though.

Nissan had an issue with the previous gen Maxima grille. It was called the "tooth" grille for obvious reasons, and owners looks for different options make it look better.
They got away from that with the current gen which has a plain, but not ugly, grille. Now they've chosen to go with that big chrome "U" in the grille. I can already see owners painting it black or wrapping it so it no longer stands out. Anyone want to do a photoshop on the '16 model??

Its much easier/cheaper to limit horsepower through the computer than to actually design and build a world class suspension system that would avoid torque steer at a dead stop with the throttle mashed, engine giving full response all at once. The easy way out in most FWD applications is to cut the timing and reduce the power output.

A little to much going on for me in some areas especially the front end. I do love the interior. Definitely has some GTR influences.
What I don't like is the packaging. No panoramic or even a regular sunroof available on the sport model and lots of other features stripped from that model. I'll check this new model out for the heck of it though.

Sorry, forgot about the name change at Infiniti, the new Q50 is the model I am referring to.
As for price, they're a lot closer than you'd think. New Maxima is $32k base, Q50 is $37k base. Loaded Maxima is like $40,000. So I'd say you're crazy not to cross shop them IMO.

I know that, but some of the optional goodies on luxury cars now days are more annoyances than anything. Things like Infiniti's optional electric steer system that is actually worse than the conventional steering, adaptive cruise control(I've heard this has improved since it first came out though), 19-20" wheel options that make the ride rougher, etc
