Good god, that's unsettling! I personally think I suck at parallel parking but I can still get by if I need to, because I know and understand the basics.

I'd just show up in a S550 and hit the parking assist button. Done.

That's like trying to get your pilot's license on autopilot. When the parking test WAS required, you had to do it yourself. No electronics.

A pilot's license has slightly more involved.

Parallel-parking, if done manually and correctly, is not as easy as it looks. The sheer number of curb-scraped alloy wheels and wheel covers attests to that.
