So what if I have allergies to dogs? Don't like them? Or get bitten?

I personally think you should go to another dealership because I want that dog at mine.

I can understand having an allergy and sneezing, but how can anyone dislike a puppy....an creature that gives unconditional love to everyone.........including you.

Ever heard of cynophobia? How about the people who are so allergic to dogs, combined with asthma, that they have an anaphylactic reaction and need to go to the hospital?
I love dogs, but this is definitely not the smartest move I've seen.

That's why I said, in my post, that I can understand allergies and other reactions as a reason for avoiding them. But a puppy is one of the most loving creatures on earth....I don't see how anyone in their right mind can out-and-out dislike one.

you can't please everyone. people with serious issues like that probably need someone else to take their car in for service. we've become such a nation of wimps and what if this and what if that...

in britain there's dogs everywhere and in paris i ate at a restaurant with a resident cat that roamed the counters. awesome.

these days, even having people over for dinner is a hassle... oh you're gluten free? oh your lactose intolerant? oh you're not eating carbs, is that right? oh but i notice everyone's drinking alcohol or ok with smoking pot...

There are hazards for sensitive people everywhere and they learn to handle or avoid them everyday (avoiding service dogs at the mall, police dogs at the airport, etc etc etc) if they have a serious issue like you describe.

I still want that dog at my dealer. I'd be concerned for its safety though with all the moving cars, etc.

Don't like it, go somewhere else

Bring to mind the most terrifying creature you can possibly imagine, something that would stop you dead, make you shiver or cower, and simply terrify you. If you cannot imagine that, at least imagine something that you would hate to find crawling on you when you wake up in the morning. To some people, this horrific thing is a dog.
Does it seem absurd? Of course, but that's because a phobia is an irrational fear that makes the person display reactions that seem out of proportion for the actual danger(or lack thereof).

Yes, but those places do not all have exposure to the dogs for long periods of time or they know to avoid them. No one expects a dog to be spending long periods of time in a dealership, this extended residence leads to an accumulation of dog dander and hair. To combat the allergens, they would need to routinely sweep and have HEPA filters cycling the air to reduce airborne allergens(because simply sticking a HEPA in your HVAC unit is not the correct way to filter air) and even then, this wouldn't guarantee that the levels are low enough that a sensitive person wouldn't be set off.
This is a minuscule percentage of the population that would have this issue, but I've still seen people that were set off by almost nothing. It's a ****ty life for them.

I would be more concerned about salesmen that wear too much cologne.

That would be noxious.

Or if the dealership hires a clown for entertainment.

That would be scary.

Article said Jack Russell/French Bulldog but then I've never owned small dogs so definitely not my expertise. Goldens, Germans and Labs mixes over here
