Makes sense since merchants have to pay a fee for every card purchase. Stupidest policy ever from credit card companies. That's why many mom and pop places require a minimum for card purchases, otherwise the transaction's not even worth it.

Cheap isn't always good.

Using a card can buy you cheap security plus with many cards you get cash back so that can lower your cost per gal. to meet or beat the cheapest brand. You get what u pay for I was always told.

Price is going up because of all the money printing, there isnt a supply problem its a dollar weakening problem
Of course there isn't supply problem, there's too much demand!!! gotta slow the demand - at least a week to bring the price down. It's better than doing nothing.

Sure, there's a lot of demand. But this demand can be meant with ease if our policies allowed it. If America wanted, we could double supply with our own resources within 10 years.

Indeed, the increased costs is very much related to a weakening dollar. There's other factors as well though. India and China's rapidly developing infrastructure is a huge factor. This is why we need to stop relying on foreign oil that we are competing on getting on the world market. We need to use our own. We have plenty.

Now with that said, I'm all for using less if desired. I drive a Yaris that averages nearly 40 MPG for economic reasons. I drive an efficient vehicle for no other reason (environmentalism, ect...).

But suggesting we all cut way back for a week isn't going to do anything.
Are you suggesting we all stay home from work for a week? Saving a tank of gas won't be beneficial if you miss a paycheck. And not many people are going to start significantly disrupting their lives until gas passes about $6/gal.

Most of us don't have state jobs that we can retire from in our 50's. The private sector typically works into their 70's because most don't receive a pension.

I would think most people DO recieve a pension that are around my age. It has just been the last 10 years or so that the IRA's took over & I beleive most companies put $$ in the their employees IRA's.

Don't know anyone that works into their 70's, pension or not.
Firefighters don't work into their 60's as it is a young person game, just like a football player doesn't work into their 40's. It's a young man's game too.

Oil by the barrel has dropped 12% this week.

Pffft, within the last week, Premium 93 at a local Gate Station went from 3.96-4.14. If it's dropped so much, it is interesting to know why price hasn't gone down as well accordingly.

As the price of a barrel drops, I doubt the price of gas will go back down to the same corrsponding rate it once was. This "adjustment" has been going on for a few years now. After each spike and fall, it always settles a bit higher than the last episode. With this pattern after enough years, we'll be at Euro pricing levels, just where they want it to be. And for good reason... a bazillion in profits is just not enough.
