how to save 25000 on a gs (buy a CPO 528i)

My head started to hurt trying to understand your post OP.

You didn't save $25,000 on a GS...you did not buy a GS LOL.
You wound up paying less for less car...thats not a "deal". You could have had a 2013 GS for the same money by your admission...
I saved $50,000 on my GS...I bought a 2002 Explorer for $10k. See how that doesn't make any sense?

I recently was looking at used cpo's gs 350 and heres my issues
1) a 14 with 8 speed automatic still is around 37-40 k over my budget (assume there's a comma missing there as a GS was unlikely to be 37-40K OVER your budget unless you really couldn't afford ANY cpo GS)
3) overall gas mileage is around from what i heard 22mpg which is not up to standards this day in age. (i didn't believe 22 but checked and sure enough, it's 23, plus it's premium https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/32209.shtml - even my jeep grand cherokee gets 22 combined)
bought a 2013 bmw 528 cpo with 19,000 miles with nav, premium package for 32k (congrats!)
i am covered till 50 k under warranty all maintanence (that's maintenance for 18k, so 3 oil changes or $150 max)
i am covered till 100 with cpo (i believe lexus covers cpo to 100)
... after 230 miles 65% highway 35% city, getting 30mpg combined (nice, so additional 7mpg let's say saves you $1 a gallon so if you do 12k mi. a year, that's 400 gallons, so you'll save $400. gas savings are often overblown.)

so IF a comparable cpo gs350 had been 35K (the '14 at 37-40 isn't because it's newer than your bmw), you 'saved' 3k (or rather spent 3k less), plus 2k savings in 5 years on gas (somehow i don't think you'll keep it that long though), plus $150 on maintenance. so in 5 years you'll have spent ~5K less, not exactly saving "25000".

come on. I get what he's saying.
Save $25k. Don't buy a new GS, buy a used 528 with a 100k mi warranty.
Gets hella good mileage for a boat, and you're really not getting less car. (It has the premium package)
If you plan to drive it to 100k, I guess it's a good buy. Save a bunch on fuel. repairs are covered.
With the 528i, it's like buy 3 gallons, get the 4th free vs the GS. ~$300 savings per year if you use 400 gallons per year.
In 7 years, you will have saved $2100. That'll pay for a few oil changes.
Lexus repairs cost an arm 'n leg too these days, so it's a wash.
Good buy, if that's really how much a '13 528 is worth.

morning all, how are you my fellow lexus lovers, you notice any anger on this chat? nahhhhhh..
its bee 2 and half weeks, the 528 is averaging 30.3 combined with a mix of 65 35 highway city mix,
car drives great, wonderful handling, great nav screen, interior from 1-10 a 9....
went to lexus on saturday getting my wife rx oil change sat in the gs and have to say the bmw german thought behind the interior and ergonomics is better than the gs. in sheer material quality i would say its equal but if you sit in a new 5 look at attention to detail in the wood trim, chrome accents, ambient lighting, bmw is a step ahead of lexus. i almost felt like the wonderful seats the gs has is out of place in an interior that is nicely executed but immature. those spending 50-60 k for a gs that don't have a need to run around the track or pound it daily but looking for a luxury sport cruising vehicle take a look at a low mileage 528 or 535 cpo for around 31-33 you will find a lot of value there. yesterday i played with mine in traffic in sport mode and i happen to like it better than the v6 of the gs, its more playful and flexible, i was tired of my ls 20mpg combined and i am sure your all tired of 21 mpg combined it gets old filling up three or four times a week
have fun love the passion on the board, you all are equal to a tire thread with passion

and the 528 to me
was more of a car, wanted higher gas mileage, it handles better due to the lighter weight in the nose of the car and with cruise on a/c off at 68 mpg gets 40mpg.
have photos showing close to 44 but lowered it for you all...
try going on highway cruise set on a gs at 68 to 70 bet you all get around 28-30 max
peace

and another thought, anyone notice lexus is going to a 2.0 liter 4 turbo in nx, is, rc and now a gs is penciled in,
hmmmmm 2009 bmw releasing a car in 12 with a 2.0 liter motor like a tank with great mpg
great foresight toyota just 4 years behind the germans

It's great you love your car, and I wouldn't deny you that. But there's no need to BS everyone here.
