how to save 25000 on a gs (buy a CPO 528i)

I have a 328i xDrive with the the same engine, and have had a number of highway cruising road trips the past few weeks. With all due respect, I don't believe that you are getting 44mpg for the trip, rather than some instantaneous reading for a short stint. My mpg, doing 70-80 is 33; I find it really hard to believe that RWD and dropping to 68 mpg nets an 11 mpg difference with the larger 528.
It's great you love your car, and I wouldn't deny you that. But there's no need to BS everyone here.

yesterday i played with mine in traffic in sport mode and i happen to like it better than the v6 of the gs, its more playful and flexible, i was tired of my ls 20mpg combined and i am sure your all tired of 21 mpg combined it gets old filling up three or four times a week
have fun love the passion on the board, you all are equal to a tire thread with passion

Mileage is better sure, but I have no issues paying for fuel for a car I enjoy driving. Obviously...since I went to the even thirstier V8 LS.
Filling up 3-4 times a week, so you drive 900-1200 miles a week?
Glad you're excited with your car, you should be, but the anger here comes from the fact that posting this thread the way you did on a Lexus forum in the 4GS forum (which is where you posted it before it was moved) is really a troll thread.

tell you there really
is some twisted responses. the anger is incredible
troll thread, troll bunch of owners maybe
lets make it simple
new gs 55 k sport
used gs 14 38 not within my budget
cpo 528 13 with 19,500 miles i paid 31900 plus got gap insurance
1.9% financing
68 mph cruise no ac 44 mph, for the 328 owner the 5 with the 8 speed has a lower gear ratio for highway cruising the cd of the car is .28 or .29 so trolling along at 68 at 1750 rpm yields what i told you have multiple photos and verified with counting manual gallon stopped at gas fill up
the point of the thread was for those who don't have a 55k budge with tax, open your eyes to another option for 20k to 23k less..... glad i did its a better thought out car than the gs
again the front seat of the gs is better the 5 is very good not as good and handling of the gs is better in turns and curves, i love lexus but sit in one back to back and the kool aid disappears
this motor should have been retired in 2012 old technology with good hp and avg at best efficiency

Well, the used GS you were comparing to was a year newer and 38K. So it would actually be "those without a 38K budget"
Now if you looked at a 2014 CPO 528, how much would it be? Not 31,900, because its a year newer.
If you compared apples to apples (used 2014 528 to used 2014 GS), how much (if any) would you be saving?
If you like the 528 thats all that matters, but as mentioned before....if you come post onto a Lexus forum talking about "saving 25K on a GS" by buying a different vehicle, it seems very troll-ish.
I would imagine the same feeling (and probably even worse) would come from the bimmerforums if I went and posted how I could save money over a new 528 by buying a used GS.
