Which SUV best matches the luxury of the GS

I'm not sure I see how you can lump the ES and IS together like that. They are two very different products, and tend to have very different comfort and driving dynamics.

Within of a week of ownership, I got a the "Reduce Power" malfunction, which was tipped off by a on going N63 Recall. N63 Recall pertains to the 4.4TT engines, which BMW has started since December of 2014. After all that was fixed, the electrical gremlins kicked in for another $3500 in repair.

N63tu engines are fine though. All that to say the E70 was never reliable during its entire model run.

Agree'd. The N63tu are great and they fixed all the little issues from 2013+.

I should be rephrase then. Be very careful of the BMW X5 50i. I should have gotten the 35d but the V8 is a monster

I think he's talking in terms of material quality. Neither the ES and IS are at the levels of the LS/GS. The RX just happens to be closer to the ES/IS in this regard.
