Well I'm glad you're glad then lol
FYI, it's always about sales volume. Toyota doesn't care about volume for the LC here because the vehicle is so profitable elsewhere in the world, and they really have another large SUV entry. Regardless of what you may want to believe, Toyota is a business and I promise you they care about sales volume at EVERY price point.
Loyal customers or not, they need enough customers to make the model profitable or they'll discontinue it. Business.

Are you trying to the suggest that the Land Cruiser is not profitable for Toyota in the US market?

If the U.S. existed in a vacuum, meaning that the LC was just sold here no, it wouldn't be profitable. It only sells 3,300 or so units a year.
That's a meaningless statement though, it doesn't exist on a vacuum and it's hugely profitable.

It's profitable overall, but if you attributed all of its production cost, development cost, etc just to the sales they do in the U.S. it wouldn't be profitable.

while it is certainly rare in the u.s., to say that equates to 'prestige' is crazy. but yeah, if one is looking to drive something few others do in the u.s., the LC would be a good choice.
I have no problems with the interior of the LC whatsoever.
in the u.s., the LC buyer is rarer than a big foot sighting. i suspect they're 'loyal' in that they likely keep an LC for 10+ yrs. it being reliable and practical 'n all.
Personally I am glad the vehicle is a low volume seller.
the LC at least is a rounding error on u.s. sales. per unit profit is probably good, but the total profit is still tiny.

OK, so to put a spanner in the works and now that I have my interest piqued in an SUV , what is the Range Rover Autobiography like compared to these other SUV's. I can't get an Escalade as they are only in left hand drive and my wife will only driver right hand drive cars.

Really, I never knew that the Range Rover was in that kind of class?
I though that the reliability issues were with Jeep?
What brought me to attention was the engine, 5L super charged 510hp and 0-60 in under 5 seconds. That is some serious power on a 4x4.
What about interior compared to the LX?

Cant speak to the new LX, but the current LX the Range Rover is far superior inside, especially in Autobiography trim.

From the sources that I've seen (of which Consumer Reports is probably the most accurate), only in the sense that almost all vehicles are more reliable today than their same-brand predecessors were 20 or 30 years ago. But, as a brand, Land Rover still ranks well below average in reliability by today's standards. I probably would not buy or lease one if top-notch reliability were an issue.

Plenty of people buy and lease them...I know a lot of people with new ones, Range Rovers, Range Rover Sports, and LR4s and everybody's pretty happy.
I thought about it, a full Range Rover is more than I wanted to spend but I did seriously consider a Range Rover Sport before I got the LS.
