Making an LFA kit car
Hi Ive been looking to make my Nissan 300zx into something spectacular... and after seeing the Lexus NX LED headlights today, I started to play around and here is the look I can achieve with a front conversion kit.

No, just no. Why ruin a beautiful car like that, the 300ZX is a timeless design and one of my favorite Nissans. Reminds me of when back in the 1980's people would turn their Fiero into a "Testarossa". Except that no matter how good you get it to look, it still doesn't sound like the real deal.
If you want a kit car, go buy a Caterham 7 and assemble it yourself, or there are any number of companies that will sell you a Shelby Cobra replica. Or if you have a bit more budget the Factory 5 GTM is pretty badass. Mid engined and uses off the shelf Corvette parts, including the engine(which means you can build it into a 1000hp turbocharged monster if you want)

The ZX looks cross eyed.
If its all about looks and not about money/status, would you thinks it would be cool for an LFA owner to convert his front end to a 300zx then?
P.S. Im also considering a Maserati grill and Lexus NX headlights.

I never thought it was ugly, and I actually bought it to make the front into a Koenigsegg CCX design like 7 years ago. Along the way I stop the project and built a large CNC machine from scratch.
I guess the Z wasnt as good looking compared to your history of cars that I see in your sig.

Im interested... but through my postings on multiple forums I often hear people praise the 300zx so much and why dont you leave it alone... yet they were never owners of said car themselves and owned expensive cars that were 3-4 folds more then the Z.
You can find many Z's in American junkyards... why if its so great as you claim?

Another factor is that while they are beautiful cars, the engine bay is 10lbs of potatoes packed into a 5lb bag. They are hard to work on, and pretty complex cars as well, especially the turbo models. That means there is a lot of stuff to break, and when it does, it isn't cheap or easy to mend, so you see a lot of these cars with half *** fixes/check engine lights on, because their broke 17 year old 3rd owner can't afford to properly maintain the car.
You see the same thing with 4th gen V8 f-bodies though, the used prices are cheap, so people buy them, don't maintain them and rag them out. Generally if somebody is paying $30-40k for a Mark IV Supra or Acura NSX, they are going to fix any sort of problem the right way, even if that means new turbos at $3,000, or a $2000 clutch job on an NSX, they have the money to maintain the car and will have a garage to keep it in, along with another car to daily drive and take all the abuse.
