Problem is....even then, many new models (not all) are first displayed on turntables, where one cannot really get up close or inside.
I think you will see E class up close

You do not want an electronic switch to determine if you are going to 4WD or out of 4LO and vice versa. The FJ Cruiser did it well, so does the 4Runner Trail.

When people claim how great the Land Cruiser/LX570 is for hard core off roading, I always ask whether or not the electronic 4WD shifter is superior to a mechanical link that is connected to the transfer case.

The LX470 had it, so did the GX470. Not so on the newer Toyotas.
Well, most SUV buyers (including even some of what is left of the hard-core off-roaders) want the electrical switch...though some pure traditionalists, of course, will want the old manual link-up systems. IMHO, pushing a switch on the dash certainly is certainly a lot more convenient than fiddling with the clutch and old-school low-range shift-lever...or, even worse, getting out of the vehicle in lousy weather and having to physically go to each front wheel and manually lock/unlock the hubs by twisting the center-cap.....that was for the birds LOL.

You'll have to excuse Jill, she's the expert on everything.

Jill must have the offroad Corolla:

Hopefully it has a manual 4x4 selector or its not a true offload capable vehicle

Why have you made it so personal between me and you?

Agreed, a dash switch is more convenient. And I changed my stance on something I used to disagree with you about, an AWD set up or an auto 4WD is needed for most trucks, especially the Tundra and Tacoma which should have an auto 4WD option.

Other folks, Back on topic please. This thread isn't about off-road shifters

Emotional design meets high-tech: The MULTIBEAM LED headlamps with 84 individually-controlled high performance LEDs respectively are an absolute highlight not just technically but also visually.

personally I dont like the look of the new multi beam, particularly the weird looking lights on the outside edges of the lamp. I am quite a fan of the current dual bulb design found in the C and S instead

This is going to be big hit for MB. It should debut with a higher starting MSRP.

Yup, the C class has moved up in size, price, power, and refinement to where its no longer the "cheap class" IMO. Its finally a proper Benz, I don't feel like you are settling for less just to get a Benz badge like previous C-Classes.

Like you said, the E class will move up in price a bit since the C is a bigger/much nicer car than it used to be.

If the tech level is close or exceed the S class, I would probably consider an AMG E after I'm done with my M. I like the new headlights

When I purchased my C350 in 2008, the starting price was $39,xxx base. The current C300 starts at $38,xxx. Granted you are missing 1.5 liters (but only 20 horsepower), I wouldn't say the C class moved up in price by much. I expect the same for the E. Maybe a few hundred or so, but not much. Again, the base engine in the E will be the same 2.0, aka E300 so again you are missing 1 liter and about 60 hp.
