i think mercedes really gets it - they're in a breakneck race to retain top status as volume luxury sedan leader through style, wide variety of options, and technology.
That is a good looking car inside and out. Wow. Gotta say I am impressed with that. The GS doesn't even come close to looking that luxurious, and obviously neither does the ES. They have stepped up their game nicely.
I think there are two options when it comes to Euro cars and reliability. The first option is that you wait about a year or two . If this car has any bigger problems they will appear the first 2 years for sure. The other option is to get one now and sell it well before the warranty is to expire.
I think it looks great. Like the C and to a lesser extend the S it needs the right trim and wheels to look its best, but IMHO this is the most appealing car in the segment to me and my criteria. If I were still in that segment this would likely be the car...
Sat in this baby at NAIAS today. All I'll say is that the Lexus GS is leagues behind.
And probably leagues less expensive when you look at the deals Lexus is offering on the GS and the ones MB won't be offering on the E Class for a while.

of course that doesn't make the GS bad it just means it doesn't really compete overall with a brand new E class.
Perhaps the new E class competes more in line with the LS. Seems to me MB has moved both the E class and S class up one level.
The E Class has always competed up in price ranges that include the LS, but its still significantly smaller than the LS (~ 7 inches shorter than the SWB LS). The E Class still competes with the GS, its just newer. New GS will be out in 2-3 years and it will better compete.
The LS starts ~ $75k, the new E Class will still start in the 50s.
