Lexus pickup - what it might be?
Let's imagine how typical pickup truck might look if Lexus produced it
For example,
On the new 2016 Tacoma basis:
Or made from LX (just like mine)
Or even Chevy El Camino style!
Okay, throwing away all funny pics,
Will you buy Lexus pickup truck? Like in the first photo?
And how it might be called? Lexus LT? RT?

I do not think the Tundra platform is good enough in the current gen, its too old, too big, and there is too much cost cutting such as a c-channel frame and mediocre payload.
As for whether Lexus should or would do it, I highly doubt either will happen unless all of their competitors offer something.

I think Lincoln tried this twice and failed.
Even Caddy doesn't make a truck.
Luxury car makers need to stick to luxury cars, leave the truck manufacturing to the truck companies, Toyota, Ford, Ram, and GM.

Correct.....though the first time, Lincoln never planned on producing any more than 1000 Blackwood pickups. (they actually produced 1100, I think).
They did make the Cadillac Escalade EXT for quite some time, though............an upmarket version of the Chevy Avalanche.
You forgot the Nissan Titan, though it is (admittedly) a very minor player in this league.

Speaking of upmarket Toyota/Lexus trucks, look at the Tundra Limo that was displayed this month at the Las Vegas SEMA show................

I don't think Cadillac and Lincoln failed, I think there just wasn't a market at the time of the redesigns which were near the financial crisis.

A Lexus van is something I would consider buying. A lexusified Toyota Alphard (with a toned down front grill) and an interior that resembles a private jet cabin would work. But a pick up truck - not so much.

owned an Avalanche. and it's not a truck it's a SUT, Sport Utility Truck.
problem with it and the Escalade is you can't do truck things with it.
while it was cool, the rear independent suspension (instead of leaf springs) means it only had a 500lb bed weight rating instead of 1,500 or 2,500 lbs.
also while you can put drywall or wood planks in it, try hauling dirt, aside from the weight, it gets all in the cab.
While the Avalanche/Escalade were neat ideas, their most practical use was camping, a nice pop-up tent on the bed with the rear folded down made for a great sleeping area, but as a truck they suck.

Both Avanlache and Escalade EXT were based on the Suburban.

I love the saddle brown leather that they put into the higher end trucks. Although I cant see Lexus doing one, it would be nice. They could market it all nice driving in luxury in the middle of the snow to a ski resort or cabin with skis and snowboards in the bed. The truck could have many accessories as the base model i.e. all options in the '16 Tacoma 4x4, full size cab, seating for 6, Widescreen LED TV & Bluray, running side boards, motorized rear window, curtains & bed cover with remote, fridge, NAV satellite radio & internets etc.
