Thoughts on Audio S3
Going to look at an Audi S3 tomorrow. Seeing if anyone has any experience with it. I'm looking for a fun AWD car and this and the IS are top on my list.

Thoughts on Audi S3
Sorry about the previous post. Damn auto correct on my phone.
Anyway, I'm going to look at an Audi S3 tomorrow and wanted to hear of anyone's experiences with the car. I'm worried about long term reliability. I've read you should only lease Audi's, not buy them. My other option I was looking at is the Lexus IS AWD. Looking for a fun, luxurious AWD car and these 2 seem to fit the bill. Not interested in the Infiniti Q50.

If you look at Audi's reliability scores with CR for the past couple of years, you'll see Audi has improved dramatically. I own a 2010 A5 and have had no issues at all with it @ 50K miles (aside from oil consumption issues which they are handling).
I would get the S3 over the IS AWD any day....much better looking and more fun too (IMO).

Yes the Audi is definitely a bit more stylish and has the "badge" but I wouldn't short change the Golf R solely on its badge alone, unless that is also part of what you're after. The interior materials are on par with the entry Audi, same platform, powertrain, etc.

I find the A3 to be a little off proportionally. It looks tall and narrow, and its not helped by the tall belt line. I haven't seen the S3 in person, maybe larger, wider tires and a lower ride height fix this

Do you plan on having Audi do ALL the maintenance or an independent? I've been researching and received advice from a trusted mechanic that the electronics in those cars are a headache. Also mine won't service them as they take specialized tools to do certain tasks. (On a BMW to change the oil pan as he looked it called for removing the transmission & engine a 15 hr ordeal. The customer was shocked.) Now if you have a trusted Audi mechanic in mind then do pick his brain. Go in with eye's open.
I'm currently looking at the "back side" of the purchase of several vehicles myself. Brakes & rotors $5k on one car. Clutch $7k on another and so forth. Weighing my options like you.
Lexus is MUCH cheaper by comparison.
Good luck.
