My Favorite Automotive song.
I never could stomach the stuff Sammy Hagar put out in car songs. Though I'm not into either pot or moonshine (and both are referenced in this song), I've always liked this tune by Steve Earle. It's a tune about whiskery-running in the Southern Appalachians in a hopped-up late-40s-vintage Dodge. He does some excellent rhythm, chords, and and notes, and has an almost perfect voice for this type of song.............
Reminds me of the old 1958 movie with Robert Mitchum (Thunder Road)...except with lots better music.....
BTW, NASCAR racing originated with these whisky-runners getting together on weekends and organizing their own local races. Bill France came along, saw there was potential money to be made in the races.....and the rest is history.

I once had a 50cc scooter. It was badass!!
Always has "Born to be Wild" playing in my head whenever I gave it full throttle to a max speed of 37 mph (it took almost 25 seconds to get to that max speed. )
I miss that little monster...
