I've always been a fan of the Lincoln Mark series, back from their land yacht glory days in the 60's/70's. I loved the Mark VII too, that was another revolutionary design for its time as well. The Mark VIII, well its like the designer was that sociopath kid who melted ants with a magnifying glass. The Mark VIII looks like a melted Mark VII, hate that car with a passion(its horrible interior didn't help matters)
I was a fan of those Lincoln Mark VII too when I was a teen, looked cool with tons of features, James Bond even drove one in "License to Kill". I wanted one as my first car, saw a couple used ones I liked but my dad said a V8 RWD car like that would cost a fortune to insure for someone my age and it was a gas guzzler. I liked the Mark VIII when I first saw it, thought the interior was interesting but I could see why they did not sell, too expensive and too out there plus their reliability was awful.
If the LF-LC is going to cost around 100K then it is going to be a notch above the first SC especially if there is no lower priced version with a 6 cylinder. I like the design but there are a few angles like from the rear I am not nuts over, I don't care for the wheels on the production model either, they hurt the look.
Looks like even Canada's stuffy grey lady of print journalism is liking the LC500. It leads their top ten list of must-see vehicles and also calling it the one of the three coolest vehicles at NAIAS. The two others being the VLF Force 1 (wicked), and the Buick Avista (impressive).
Saw the LC500 up close and personal at NAIAS today.
Just a beauty, very impressed.
The rest of the Lexus lineup? Aside from the RX it's stale. Interiors are completely outclassed by the Germans.
The LC500 is a halo vehicle that should also bring in people who have no intention of buying it or even able to afford it. The showstopper is yet to come; the LS. I think they wanted to make sure the LC gave a taste of the future and the LS will hit the home run.
The Germans sometimes do this too. People bought BMW 318/323's or C class too, while reading dreamy car reviews about S class or AMG, M Sport etc. It's what brings people in the door. As to whether it succeeds, that remains to be seen.

Yours is much better than the Mark VIII, and since this thread has pretty much covered the LC500, I wanted to let you know my dad had a used '73 Lincoln Mark IV that he occasionally let me drive. I felt like I was on Cloud Nine. It actually had FM stereo. Silver w/ Silver leather. I think the hood was as long as my S5. I also think it influenced me to drive silver coupes my entire life. I mean, what is more beautiful than that car?
New guy here. Big fan of the current Lexus lineup and their new design language. I do a lot of auto renderings. Some of you may have seen my work in the past on various other forums. If not, thats cool because I will share some here as well. Here is a render I recently did of the new LC-500.
I've changed the color to what I call 'Dark Blue Steel', I added HRE wheel's, lowered it and gave it a more aggressive stance.
