Another interesting thing, Lexus said today in their press conference than they sold 40k hybrids in Europe in 2015 and that was almost 50% of all premium hybrid market.
Considering that other premium brands in europe sell well over million (maybe even 2 million?) vehicles and if only 45k of those vehicles were hybrids you see how much is that a PR strategy (plugin hybrids) and not a real product. If not for Norway and few other countries where these cars are taxed much less, they would sell 10x less than that small number.
Paying $15k extra to carry 300lbs extra to get 20 miles of EV is only a PR strategy and tax evasion strategy... it is not a real product for masses, as we can see by the numbers actually sold.

The Cabernet looks great.
Atomic silver doesn't do it for me on the LC though. Needs to be bright and bold.

As for plugins, I have to agree with you. They're great for showing off tech and gaming crazy mileage numbers but they're too expensive and impractical for the real world. The Volt/Ampera is an exception with decent electric range for the average commute but even it hasn't sold well, probably because it's too expensive.
So you either do a Toyota-style cheap hybrid or go all the way to a BEV. A plugin hybrid seems more and more like a stepping stone that's not needed.
On another note, McLaren are thinking of doing a BEV supercar as the successor to the P1...

Pole Position
That silver+red/black vanilla combo is probably how you are going to see LC on the road most of the time. Most likely tied on the top spot with the usual black on black.

Liquid platinum might look better. I dunno, I normally love atomic silver but in those pictures I just don't care for it.

The LC 500h is powered by a Multi Stage Hybrid System.
This new technology adds a new automatic transmission to the established attributes of Lexus’s full hybrid powertrain to deliver the sharpest and most refined drive, with much stronger and direct acceleration.

Not sure, but why not use tried and true components on something to showcase their techs and reliability? Toyota is not immune to component failure. RC-F with faulty fuel pump is one of the recent issue.
