It does look stunning and like nothing else on the road except for some of the cues from the LFA.

From the near overhead shot DF kindly provided there appears to be rear seats but I can't tell for sure in my iPhone
Can someone with a big screen comment on that

Some of you need to get our of the 1980s Lexus leads with luxury hybrids. I reported here around 2 years ago the latest info on this Lexus hybrid sports car. Before then I explained Lexus was hard at work on it. This is that vehicle.

This is the future. It can't be LFA based, the LFA is BESPOKE, some of you need to get that through your skullls THe engine cannot be de-tuned, it is 80k itself. This is the new direction for the SC.

Also remember that Lexus historically debuts a hybrid concept but there are petrol only engines offered. LF-SH, LF-Gh are examples.

Ferrari and Porsche will offer hybrid exotics. So get used to it. The next NSX is a hybrid and I'm sure poor Honda is drained that Lexus has again beaten them to the punch.

Hopefully Lexus expands the SC line:

SC 350
SC 450h
SC 460

SC F
Exactly. Thanks for pointing out that really premature post.

Toyota is working on the next gen Supra that is also going to be a hybrid. So, I dont see anything wrong with this coupe being a hybrid as well. Who knows, maybe they will even share things with the new Supra?

MP thanks for the rear seat info
Sick defined to me is, throw the ISF motor in the aluminum based LFA
Further, why would the car have the rear intake architecture shown if it was not LFA based?

Why have rear-seats when most people can't fit in the back?

The design clearly looks LFA based, from the proportions to the shape to the air intake on the side of the car. But it's a hybrid, which makes things interesting. Why make a concept based on a supecar but as a hybrid? Will it see production as a cheaper option to the LFA? Is it merely a design exercise? If it's merely a design exercise why base it on a production car?

The LFA is already in production, so making a concept based on a production vehicle should mean a higher chance of this car too making production without much loss in the overall design. But the LFA is made out of carbon fiber, how would they execute this?

I like this miles better than the LF-A. This truly looks exotic.

Like I keep saying, before the carbon LFA was the aluminum one that got shelved
The useless back seats thing stemmed from insurance costs in Japan
I wish they would do a nice shelf like the Ferrari 575 had

There are still a lot of unknown elements here so no wonder the speculation is running rampant

While the car does look a lot like the LFA, we have no idea whether or not it's built on that platform but my first thought is that it probably is not (just me). IMO, the logical mission for a car like this would be a less expensive, more attainable little brother to the LFA. I think the LFA platform would be too pricey for such a car.

I'd guess there was a V8, or V6/V8 hybrid with electronically assisted turbos lurking in there. Could also be the Lexus counterpart to the rumored Supra, which would make it somewhat midsize and probably mean it was fitted with a V6.

We also have no idea what the dimensions are on this car. It could be significantly smaller, larger, wider, longer, heavier than LFA. That would tell us a lot about it.

Why have a rear intake/air duct? Who knows? Cool the rear brakes? Maybe the batteries are located there, and the air circulation helps cool them down?

Once Lexus releases the specs and gives us the dimensions of the car, I think we can make more educated guesses. Any info on the powertrain would be great, but Lexus tends to be shy on details in that area. There have been rumors for a few years about a hybrid Lexus sports car, and I remember one circulating earlier this year specifically. It looks like they might have been true...
