Defensive? Come again? I'm just laughing at the six figure price tag some will pay with only cosmetic upgrades. Sad part is there will always be fanboys like yourself make excuses defending the dismal sales when it's released.
So when you going to trade in the 06 and get on my level?
Well I wouldnt call it a cosmetic upgrade. The GSF has additional structural enhancements and a higher end vehicle. The LC is on an all new platform with a new transmission. Even the 5L V8 is ever so slightly revised it seems with the intakes. And the interior of the LC seems to been made from 1000 cows.
BMW has had the 3 series (now 4 series) and 6 series 2 door cars for a while
The 4 and RC parallel while the 6 and the LC parallel
The 6 is more deluxe inside, has a more fashionable look and costs a bunch more. The LC will play life out the same way.
Lexus will do the hybrid in the LC to give themselves some play in their hybrid wheelhouse
BMW had done a nice job with breadth of offering, RWD, AWD, verts, motor choices up to M
I would image that if the LC is well received it will come in some additional flavors but it will be unlikely that Lexus goes for that many iterations
Your only flaw is base 6 series msrp ~77k, the m6 msrp ~113k (which is what the LC is attempting to compare/compete with).
Again my only point is as BMW increase their price/model their engine/hp also increase, while the LC500 USES THE RCF (63k base sticker) ENGINE WITH THE SAME HP competing with m6 560 hp.
At a six figure price with such an inferior/outdated engine attempting to compete with the big boys (m6, E AMG coupe...) is a fail waiting to happen.
No one paying that kind of money is going to say "well check out my 100 cow interior" after losing a magazine or real street race for bragging rights in their circle of friends.
And what if the LC buyer is a woman who lives in a $3 million condo and doesn't include street racing on her resume?
That's true also. There's plenty of cl and s63/65s amg owners around here that barely drives over 65, gripping the steering wheels with both hands exactly on the 10 and 2 position
And the low hp will definitely sway some of the buyers also. Lexus will have to learn from the RCF and GSF slow sales.

You do realize that the V8 that's in your top of the line RCF is the BASE ENGINE in the LC right? There will be a HIGHER END LCF engine!!!
It's a higher class car. Your top end is only good enough to be its base

And I'm getting this info from a guy that currently drives a is250.
Care to post where and what those engines are? Google can't find anything besides my base 5.0 v8
Oh sorry also a hybrid with less hp. Is that what you are referring to?
Well considering all of the high performance models have an F designation, and the LC500 has no such F, it's pretty obvious this is a 640i (315 HP), 650i (443 HP) competitor and not an M6 competitor

My IS250 has nothing to do with my knowledge of Lexus
As of right now the rumor mill says twin turbo V8 for the LCF (From the prototype TMG LS we saw testing last year).
