If priced around $100k+, I think it will be more of a S-Class coupe and rumored 8 Series competitor rather than a SL fighter.

Yes I have, it starts at $84k. Besides pricing, Lexus has hinted it could be built on a shorten LS platform. Not to mention the LF-LC is a 2+2 like the S-Class coupe and BMW Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupe concept.

That is what I was thinking. Maybe the top end LF-LC will be priced around 100K but if they want any kind of decent sales they had better offer a version in the high 60's or 70K range like with a 6 cylinder especially if it is the new SC. Not a good idea at all for Lexus to price a model over a comparable Mercedes model.

The S Coupé is a 4 seater, just as the GranTurismo. The 8 Series will not go into production. 2+2 seater, like the LF-LC, have no real place at the back, just as the 911 and i8.

Can't wait to see what Lexus has in store for the SC:

SC 460/460C
SC 450h/600h
SC F

I'm kinda curious if Lexus will make a fixed hardtop coupe and separate convertible for the SC similar to the RC hardtop coupe and convertible...

On the RC side:

RC 300h
RC 350
RC F

Soon to come:

RC 200t
RC 350C

Lexus is definitely expanding their coupe lines...
Should be an SC500 if the 5.0 from the RC F or GS F becomes the standard V8 in the LS

Agreed on the SCh, it'll likely be the 3.5L V6 with hybrid AWD and 500hp*

And of course the SC F with a 5.0 and twins if all goes to plan.

Not to say the RC-F is a bad car, but they could have done better with the weight. They started off great with the 4GS being the best handling car in its class, hopefully they get back on the right track.
With this latest RC and RC F though it's a Frankenstein chassis being 1/3 from current IS, 1/3 from current IS C and 1/3 from GS. If Lexus were to make a new modular platform that underpins all, it may be lighter

LF-LC / SC will def be a six digit car. The last 2010 SC430 was spec'd to about $77K, add a few years of inflation and elevated Lexus name, and it makes sense.

The LF-LC is on the smaller side of those coupes physically but it surely will compete with them. I'd say the 911 is the bench mark though (edit Levi agrees on the 911)

someone said the LF-LC was built using a modified LFA body/chassis? if true couldn't that mean a production version could be larger than the concept. because currently it is about the same size as the RC.

Yes, the LF-LC is built on the first LFA concept, which had an aluminium chassis, as opposed to the second one that had a CF chassis. Aluminium must be cheaper.

I'm just thinking if it is built on a shorten LS platform, that would make it more of a S-Class coupe competitor. I think its still to early to say that. Also Audi is about to officially unveil their Prologue concept at LA (2 door A8?). The production car could be larger than the concept.

You guys all forgot about the new AMG GT S, which the new SC-F will be a direct competitor.

Wide, low and sexy 2 doors coupe, low $100k, twin turbo V8, 500~600 hp, dual clutch tranny

The AMG GT is bench mark against the 911, the best sports car on the market.

I don't think it's forgotten, just not offered yet hah. The universal success of the LF-LC has me anxious to see what they come up. And to think there's still plenty more surprises from Lexus between now and when the SC debuts once again

Not offered yet?! We are here talking about the SC-F that will probably come out at 2020

The AMG GT S's official production specs and details and test drive reports and pictures and videos have been blasted on the internet for months now! It is technically an outdated obsoleted old car on this internet era...........haha

Touche sir

Just drove/sold a '13 911 Carrera S PDK with Chrono and it really is the epitome of a sports car and the reason many benchmark it today. Outstanding vehicle, only lasted 5 days, wish it hadn't sold so quickly

The 991 Carrera S PDK drive absolutely wonderful

But don't you find the sounds of that flat 6 very blah and unattractive, especially for a $100k+ sports car? It is ok for a $50k car, not $110k. My SC430 sounds wayyyy better.
