Chris Evans apparently isn't all that happy about the 'interference' he's facing from BBC executives

Oh man. Just when I promised myself to not get drawn into comments on new/old/good-bad Top Gear... Thanks Strooke
Evans was the wrong choice but you see why they did it. He's got a bad boy drunk-on-the-street rep and a former dj/personality. Kinda like Hammond and Clarkson rolled into one. Not going to work.
Really it's going to be Jodi Kidd for the "Briddish former-supermodel-look-I'm-driving-fast bit", and Chris Harris. The lost soul here is Sabine Schmitz because of her German accent. She's got the best credentials of them all. Racing and talking and personality too go.
It's going to get tweaked as time goes on. They'll adjust I guess.

I still think (as I did some time ago when Clarkson first got fired) that Jay Leno, even though he is not not British, would be a good person for the job. He's a car guy to the core, knows how to both review and entertain, and has his own collection of private cars. And, of course, since he retired from the Tonight Show, he's out of a job.

my moral dilemma is: clarkson was completely in the wrong to punch oisin in the face. there's really no way to spin this without clarkson being the bad guy. i agree that nobody should be impervious to getting in trouble, and disciplinary action was definitely the right move. it would be wrong of the bbc to sit back and do nothing about it, i'm just not sure firing him from the show was the best call.
i think deciding whether he should stay or not should be left to the viewers and oisin himself, both of whom would probably want to see clarkson stay on the air. actually i don't know about oisin lol but i'm just not sure it was the right move. from a business perspective it'd probably be better to keep him. either way i'm looking forward to the wave of backlash after the first episode airs that'll inevitably swamp the internet.

That punch means we get two shows instead of one.
There's also Fifth Gear which I am also a fan of, but that's more of a televised car magazine rather than the irreverent style of Top Gear. Still worth the download if you like Top Gear, though.

The trio and their adventures were legendary but there were things that were loathsome. Clarkson and his implied prejudices in other countries.
But... they had something. And interesting the new version runs to Sabine Schmitz for backup.
Forget Evans and Kidd.
Here's the old crew mixing it up with the German queen of the Ring.
About 4:00 into this video she challenges Clarkson on the Nurburgring in a van just after he lapped in a Jag. Two parts.

^ That has to be one of the best moments on that show, watching Sabine drive that van. I wouldn't have had the testicular fortitude to even try and push that thing, I mean she was half crazy driving something like that with stock brakes.

^And I still maintain that Clarkson is an arrogant ****. But then again that's part of his charm and whole schtick, personally I find him hilarious.
Would I want to work for him, HELL NO.
