I've seen a couple accidents happen in my life due to the driver having some sort of massive medical issue, that sort of thing does definitely happen.

In fact, a old girl friend of mine, years ago, had epilepsy, and took at least eight or nine medications for it every day (I can't remember what all of them were). In the state of Virginia, where we lived, she could not legally get a Driver's License....the state bans epileptics, medication or not.

Coming back from WV one time on 81 I watched the car in front of me (in the left one of the two lane highway) at 80 MPH slowly drift into the median to the left, obviously on cruise control, drive down the embankment, hit a concrete drainage thing and flip 5 or 6 times. I stopped and a bunch of truckers stopped and ran down the embankment but there was no way we were comfortable trying to get the older couple out of the car (it came to rest on its roof).
They called me later to get a statement and they told me the husband was driving and had a massive heart attack and died and the poor wife was just along for the ride, but she was probably going to be okay.
Pretty scary. Long quiet rest of the trip home in our car after what we'd seen

It's in Palos Verdes Estates CA along a great ocean view drive route I have done many times. When these houses were 1st built about 10 years ago I was amazed at how close to the road they are & the roofs are the same height as the road surface. I think the speed limit is 40 mph.
