I find it funny that this will be a darling of the press as the perfect lightweight coupe and few will complain about the 150hp, yet the BZR is already this exact formula and will continue to draw hate for only having 200hp. Seems like a double standard.

good point! but the Miata outhandles it, its quicker, & stops better than the BRZ....but I'd still take a BRZ over a Miata.
And is smaller, less livable on a daily basis and costs almost $3K more. Not arguing it is just that the two are so similar yet one is constantly raked over the coals while the other is praised and the lack of power is glossed over. It would benefit Subaru/Toyota to put together a "club sport" version with upgraded braking, and maybe some light weight items (seats, wheels, carbon hood & roof) to knock a few hundred pounds off the curb weight, since it is obvious they have no plans to make a meaningful bump to the power. While I like the look of the new Miata, I prefer the fixed roof coupe with the backseat of the BRZ.

Of course, I must say I have a soft spot for little coupes. My 96' Integra GSR is still one of my favorite cars I have ever owned. It does not have anywhere near the power of our current ISF but was just so much fun to drive at sane speeds.

Lightweight always beats more power in smile per mile. And Open top driving experience is amazing. I test drove Miata top down when it sprinkled, it was the best drive ever. I could feel the air, the rain, noise, and impracticality of driving a roadster.
