yes.

nimh vs lion - for same size of battery, you can get 20hp extra as we can see in LC500h.

When it comes to Mirai - Mirai is EV vehicle with fuel cell battery storage. So it is not limited by Nimh hybrid battery at all since fuel cell system can power electric motors directly.

What it is limited by is FCV max output plus heavy weight plus their desire to be as efficient as possible plus EV being slow/inefficient at higher speeds.

It is actually pretty brisk around the town and up to normal speeds, it is not slow at all according to the reports.

However it is large family car and not a premium sedan like Tesla. This is what Tesla does the best - makes desirable vehicles.

I managed to steal some seat time in local autoshow by accident (it was locked up prototype), and gotta say interior in RL looks fine. This would be a nice Toyota vehicle inside.

Actually not a bad looking car the Tesla Model S/Refresh; it grows on you with time.
Not stylish like the forthcoming E Class, but decently styled is the Tesla Model S.
Just hopefully the rest of the car, and in particular, the battery ages well up to 10 years with the 8 year unlimited mileage warranty.
They need to improve the rear seating ergonomics too, by deleting the battery cells from beneath the rear passenger's foot wells etc.

Yes, the Model S is a nice-looking car. However, I saw a Model X today for the very first time and that is one frumpy, dull-looking car.

True, and IMO, the new Model 3 looks even frumpier again.
That's why I'm worried if Tesla can make it, else Tesla will be bought out by one of the major car companies, or Tesla will just specialise in supplying batteries & electric motors?

Obviously the Model 3 isn't so "frumpy" they didn't get over 300,000 pre-orders lol

It will be interesting how Tesla fares in the long term.
Already, Model X has a bad start, with the falcon wing door failing to open, failing to close, and sensor not working etc.

In the beginning, let the early adopters test them out to help refine later designs.

Unlike the major manufacturers, Tesla has little experience with engineering the chassis [body], so Tesla would be wise to avoid fancy gull wing designs which have been problematic in the past.

Musk has publicly said the Falcon Wings doors were problematic to make into production, which was one of the main, if not sole, reason why the X was delayed so much.

The car could look like an Aztec and people would buy because it's a "Tesla" and has brand cache created from the much more expensive Model S. I'm sure the average driver has been looking at the Model S for years and thinking "if only I could afford one". Now they can, albeit not something that looks nearly as good as a Model S. It's still a "Tesla"!

The styling doesn't have anything to do with the pre-orders I agree, but I don't think the car is "frumpy" looking at all. It is different, which isn't a bad thing.

Problems or not, I love those falcon wing doors. I'd get the X over the S just for those

I'm a big Tesla fan, but the one thing i could never get over is the lackluster interior design and fit-and-finish of their cars. I could not justify spending A7 or 6-series GC money on a car with such a lackluster interior (although I love the screen). It may slide if it were priced the same as a 5-series, but it is priced much higher. The same goes for the Model X (which I've seen in person and unlike the Model S it is not attractive from outside) and the Model 3, whose interior looks like absolute garbage.

Now in regards to this refreshed Model S, it is even sexier from outside (love what they've done with the front) and the interior, while lacking in color choices, does have some new wood veneer options. Great car overall.

its not even the interior quality that bothers me the most. Its that it is clear they have never built a car before. I also question if the engineers have ever been inside an actual car before. How is it possible that it doesn't have door pockets, or passenger grab handles, or hanger hooks? These everyday things that you dont think about until you need to use them

Yes, that's my problem with them as well.
