I've heard a few other people say, this is kind of the spiritual successor to the Porsche 928. Big V8 up front, RWD, similar styling IMO. I mean squint hard enough and you'll see it.
They needed to leave some headroom for the various special editions we're going to see over then ext few years. I'm not sure if I agree with the spiritual successor to the 928 comment. This car is built the same way Mercedes' AMG supercars were (SLR, SLS, 300SL).

I'm predicting it will not depreciate in the same catastrophic manner other AMG cars do. First off its IMO priced right to start with, I mean the base model is SL550 money for an AMG car. 2nd off, I think this will still be a highly desireable car, 5, 10, 15 years from now. Old AMG cars tend to get pawned off so the original owner can get the latest body style e class, sl, or whatever, they're very much a fashion accessory, you don't want to be seen in last year's clothes.

This is a designed from the ground up AMG car, in a similar vein to the SLR McLaren and SLS. I think this more than anything will help it hold its value. Its special, it isn't like an E63 AMG, where minus the engine and go fast bits, its the same car as the E200 diesel that picks you up at the airport in Hamburg.

Yeah. You'll see a version of it pop up in the next-gen Vantage and likely a few other vehicles.

yep, didn't you notice the AMG was definitely on the gas first and even then the GT-R was gaining the entire time.

They did a second run because of that in the video, go watch it. We obviously have very different definitions of the word "crush". And this is a Nismo making 600hp we're talking about, not even "ANY R35" - it has a full 100hp advantage over the AMG. The GT-R in this video is a more expensive car making more horsepower than the luxury AMG! The mere fact there can even be a discussion here is a testament to what AMG has managed to achieve with the GT S.
