Free car washes @ dealerships
The sales guy said they offered free car washes for the lifetime of a Lexus car ownership. I pretty sure the Mercedes dealer offered the same perk.
Is this a perk offered at all Lexus / Mercedes dealerships? Just wondering about the quality of the washes etc. Do any of you use it? If so what is your experience and do you recommend it?
Thx!

If you cared for your vehicle's finish, you wouldn't call it a "perk".

Not all Lexus dealers offer it, and some are very limited (like 2-3pm on weekdays only).
Do a search on the forum for "dealer wash damaged my paint" and you'll find lots of reading on the subject...

My apologies for not searching before posting this question. There seems to be a wealth of information when I ran a search about free car washes. It looks like the collective agreement is to never get it washed at the dealer.

OTOH I've had a few cars washed at the dealerships (Lexus, Audi and BMW). Sometimes by accident and sometimes I just wanted the car washed and nothing bad has happened..
I don't seek out dealership washes but so far I haven't had a bad experience.
PS, these have all been light colors (white, pearl white, silver etc.)

Disclaimer, I work for a Lexus store. I wash my car 2-3 times a month.
Only damage is that caused by driving on Midwest roads. Never am
the first through when the brushes/rails/towels are dry.

But the people here count swirls in the clearcoat as damage, so it's highly likely that yours is also "damaged" under this definition. Nearly 100% of automatic washes will do this. Poor hand washing can do this too.

I'm a firm believer that nothing is ever free.
free car wash means money later to fix the damage caused my the minimum wage dork that doesn't give a rats behind about my car.

I face hazards far worse than the dealer car wash both in parking at work, and on my daily commute (140 miles RT)
I probably picked the wrong color car for it, but i'm actually for the dealer wash when I have the time.
