Up front: sunshade, microfiber towels, 2 flashlights, tissue box, car phone charger + cable, folding knife with glass breaking tip
Trunk: first aid kit, styrofoam ice chest with freeze dried food and gallon of water, an emergency kit with flares, jumper cables, and 4 space blankets

Every man should have a socket set. It's less than 20 bucks. You can do a lot on our Japanese vehicles with just a socket set and a few basic tools. German vehicles are much more complicated to work on generally and often require special tools.
