Did the extended test drive in the KIA Sorrento SXL today. I was pleasantly surprised. The fit and finish both inside and out was about the same as the XT5. Interior materials were not as nice with plastics and fake wood, but the seats were very nice and more comfortable than those in the Caddy. Ride, noise, and acceleration were very close. I don't need the 3rd row seat, but the cargo area in the rear is very large and much bigger than XT5 or RX. It has the same pano moonroof as the XT5 and even has a power shade. The rear side doors have manual sunshades which are nicely done.

Overall, a real alternative especially considering price. It is $10K cheaper than a comparably equipped XT5 or RX350. In addition, KIA is offering a $4K rebate on the 2017 model. I plan to lease so depreciation is not an issue. The dealer is in the same group as the Caddy and Lexus dealers and they will provide free service loaners.

I get serious with the Lexus this week.

The Sorrento is a great choice. I think we're going with a Highlander, but the Kia is Still in consideration.

I had my extended test drive in a RX350 this week and decided to go with the Lexus. There was something familiar and comfortable about the Lexus that changed my mind. The ride, handling, and performance was not significantly different from the XT5 or the KIA. I liked the exterior of the XT5 better, but the interior of the RX suited me better. The execution of the safety package was also superior in the Lexus and easy to use. The major decision maker was a new set of Lexus incentives that made the RX much cheaper to lease than the Cadillac. There was a lower money factor, higher residual, and some discount money.

The car is Nightfall Mica with a black interior. It is pretty loaded with HUD, 12" Nav screen with ML sound, pano roof, Lexus safety suite, etc. It is just below the Luxury package in the local stock.

I finally got the remote Enform working and am hoping that the remote start will make up for the black interior on hot days.

One pleasant surprise was to find that the sunglass holder overhead is back!

Congrats! Yeah whenever I think about getting something different the familiarity of the Lexus and how they package everything always makes me stay.

The new RX looks great in dark colors. Post some pics!

Congratulations. Once you get past that gaping Look-At-Me grille and floating roof, the new RX is a well-done design with (IMO) good road manners.

Although I haven't warmed up to the exterior of the new RX, the interior is undeniably beautiful and that's where you spend most of your time. Great choice!

Agreed, the interior- particularly the dash- is a very fine design. And at the minimum, this vehicle will provide you with trouble and worry-free ownership. Hard to put a price on that. I'll also say great choice and enjoy in good health.
Please post some pics so we can enjoy along with you.

Great choice! Congrats!

If we didn't want a third row option we'd also get a new RX.

My feelings exactly. White is popular here in Tucson, but makes the big grill and floating roof even worse. The dark blue hides both a bit. Plus, it is only hot here about 8 months or so.

Dare I say I actually like it in that color, nebula, etc. One of my neighbors got a nebula one and I was checking it out the other day, it's sharp. The light colors though, white and silver, especially with the smaller wheels...ugh.

congrats!

does the rx have remote start and does it work through the phone or the key fob? if through the phone, does it operate pretty quick? the u-connect phone app for my car is ludicrously slow to start the car, but it doesn't matter because two taps on a button on the key fob does it right away. i use this EVERY time i'm walking toward my car now (so nice in summer heat to have the car cooled before getting in!).
