Default This just in...Toyota/Lexus Recall (not the LS)

Toyota recalling CT200H, Prius and other models for airbags and emissions systems:
http://www.cp24.com/world/toyota-to-...ters-1.2966438

While the LS is not listed, I know some members here (including me), have other cars in their family that are effected. My wife's CT200H among them. Who knows.... this may be expanded to include the LS.

The emissions component hasn't been announced yet for the US, but the airbags have:

Toyota America issued a recall for certain 2010 - 2012 Toyota Prius and Toyota Prius Plug-In models, plus 2011 and 2012 Lexus CT200h models because of a potential fault in the side curtain airbag. This recall affects 1.43 million cars globally

The Fix: Toyota will install retention brackets that will prevent the inflators from entering the vehicle if separation occurs.

In the emissions case, Toyota will replace the evaporative emissions canister with an improved design.

If You Own One: Owners in the United States will be notified by first-class mail with further instructions.

My 2006 SC430 was affected, and I was wondering if the recall would ever make it to my LS600hL. No biggie if so. I trust my Lexus dealer to do the replacement without harming anything else on the car.

From what I understand all cars with Takata airbags will get them replaced at some point, I imagine they are just rolling them out as they see fit to accomplish the exchanges.

This recall has no link to Takata, unlike previous recalls. It's a completely different issue.

Some of the recalled vehicles have problems with airbag inflators, although not made by Takata.

Quote from news article.
The automaker on Wednesday said it was recalling 2.87 million cars over a possible fault in emissions control units. That followed an announcement late on Tuesday that 1.43 million cars needed repairs over a separate issue involving air bag inflators.

Some of the automaker’s gasoline-electric hybrid Prius models contain both of the potential defects, taking the total number of vehicles affected by the recalls to 3.37 million.

And although the issue is not related to the LS, do not be surprised if the campaign is expanded. We've seen this before.
