Genesis G90 reviews and news

They are both excellent luxury cars. The LS is (slightly) more quiet and refined on the road, a better color choice, has a true killer stereo, and may (?) be more reliable in the long run, though Hyundai reliability has improved dramatically in the last 10-15 years. . The G90 seems to have better and more solid hardware, a lower price, a better warranty, and, may (?) be available at greater discounts...but also risks greater depreciation if it is not popular.

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
If you check out a G90, be sure to look at (and test-drive) a G80 as well...I don't think you will be disappointed. And, remember.....not all Genesis dealerships carry both vehicles, and, right now, G90s are difficult to find in stock, so you may have to hunt a little.
I must say I've come to respect Hyundai a lot more now than a few years ago. I like the G80/G90 and would consider them for my big body car to replace my GS400 have been keeping an eye on used LS460's.

Nice write up!
Did you look and see what the tire pressures were aired to? Did you check and see what suspension mode it was set to? It does have a sport and a comfort mode.
I drove it and my LS460 back to back on the same route and didn't feel the G90 had any more road noise.

Thanks. I always put a lot of time and effort into the Holiday Review.
Yes, in terms of road noise, the G90 is not much different from the LS460 on smooth, non-porous pavement....though on the porous stuff (the grainy surfaces they often used for non-skid) some road noise does come in. It's really hard to beat the LS as a silent-running cocoon-machine....it, in particular, even among Lexus products, is an industry standard in isolation and comfort, although the new Mercedes S-Class gives it a run for the money.
Also, tires and their tread-patterns/compunds can make a difference. Put even two brand-new sets of tires on the same wheel (and same tire-size), and you will probably not get the same level of handling, braking, cornering, road-noise, or wet-dry traction from both.
I was in the base-level 3.3L RWD G90. As far as the Comfort/Sport setting for the suspension itself goes, I didn't actually see an adjustment for it, though there was an adjustment for ECO/NORMAL/SPORT drivetrin-settings. That setting, though, as I understood it, affected only the engine/transmisison response, not the suspension. I didn't see a suspension-adjustment in the web-site specs on the base model. either, though it is certainly possible that I just overlooked it or didn't see it. My reviews aren't perfect, and I occasionally miss something. If so, thanks for pointing that out.
Having driven a G90 yourself, what do you think?............is it worth 20K more than a G80? I know that answer is subjective, but I myself am not totally convinced of it.

I drove basically the same car, perhaps even the same car. It definitely has an adaptive suspension, I found a difference between normal and comfort modes. My loop had both smooth and coarse roads, I really found very little difference in noise across all road surfaces.
Is is it worth $20,000 more? To me yeah. In a flagship car it's hard to quantify that spread. Is a 7 Series worth $20-30k more than a 5 Series? Same issue. To me the G90 has a markedly better interior, and it's bigger size and extra refinement are worth it to me.

Very impressive automobile! I'd rank this on top, in terms of styling. Also, excellent review like always. These are very helpful.
Now, it's only Nov. 5th! Take down those Christmas lights and insert a turkey with stuffing! =)

Anyhow, yes, I know it's early, but I wanted to get this review out of the way early this year for several reasons, which I explained in the introduction....plus, because these cars are not readily kept in stock, I might not (?) have a chance later to see one. And, BTW, stores in my area routinely start to stock Christmas items even before Halloween, though the official shopping season doesn't start until Black Friday.

MM, nice review as always.
- You mentioned the V6 T is responsive. So no lag (or perceptible delay)?
- Queen Mary interior trim You're right - the G90 has a ton of wood and shiny bits, more than all late-model Jaguars combined.
- As for styling, the G90 doesn't do it for me - too understated, blocky, and looks outdated already. G80 is the nicer option IMO.
- A little off-topic, but any word on when the G70 (sports sedan) is to be available?

Not all upscale/luxury sedans have wood.. While it may look nice (I'll agree with that), a polished-wood steering wheel can be slippery if you get a little moisture on it, and you can lose your grip. That's why the ones that are wood usually have at least a couple of leather gripping-surfaces on the rim at either the 9/3-o'clock or 10/4 o'clock positions for safety.

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. .
A small delay....not enough to really mention. When the kick does come, in a second or two, you feel it.......even in a big heavy car like this. With twin turbos, it's usually easier to get most of the lag out, compared to a single one, because you can time one of them to be (almost) ready with boost while the other one is still spooling up.
Yeah...I'm with Steve on that one. Jag, except for the XJ, has all but dumped their traditional wood/leather interiors for a mixture of cost-cutting, starker materials, more plastic, and a push for younger buyers. The XJ does retain a bit of its former opulence, but still not quite the same.
The G80 drives surprisingly well, too.

And I wouldn't be surprised to see them working on an SUV....rumor is that there will be two of them by 2020.
