It's a damn good luxury car but Lexus is a full step ahead in quality...

But Hyundai does need to cut corners to bring the car in at the price point it's at.

Do you own a Genesis? I don't think so because if you did you'd find mistakes with build quality that you won't find with a Lexus. I own a 2015 Genesis and I've owned a bunch of Lexus LS and RX in the past. Check out my blog post to see what I'm talking about:

It shocks me to say that I do like the Genesis appearance inside and out better than the GS. Especially the front end. And I also appreciate the V8. To get a V8 in a GS you're spending a lot of money. I'd say the Genesis is the better car "for the money".

Agreed.
As far as long-term judgement and long-term quality goes, I'll defer to your actual ownership of a new Genesis, since you've obviously got a lot more time behind the wheel of one than I do. My time was limited to a full-review, on a car that was brand-new, fresh out of the factory, with no creaks, rattles, etc..... Yours obviously had some time to break-in LOL.
But, still, I can't exaggerate when i say I was very impressed with the brand-new Genesis 5.0L RWD I sampled. That car, IMO (and I sample a lot of new products) did just about everything well...power, seat comfort, quietness, handling, refinement, interior ambience, smooth tranny-shifts, and ride comfort, even with low-profile tires. Its acceleration was about equivalent (as I remember) to the 383/400-cubic-inch Road Runner/GTO muscle-cars I grew up with in the late 60s. Unfortunately, we don't get the 5.0L AWD version here in the U.S., but that's because Hyundai claims it is a gas-mileage issue on the AWD.

I also did a full-review on a CT. Its big problem is that, IMO, it's being marketed and sold as a Lexus when its general level of comfort and refinement, except for the superb NuLuxe seat-upholstery, is more that of a Toyota or Scion. It is light, small, and has little suspension-travel in either the front or rear suspension, so the ride comfort is sub-par. It also, by Lexus standards, has a lack of sound-insulation, so, despite decent wind-noise control, it still picks up a lot of road-noise through the poorly-insulated wheel-wells. Of course, despite being marketed in what IMO is the wrong division, one cannot argue that it has sold in decent numbers.

Because it's a common misconception.
The W221 S-class also had a bangle butt but no one called that a copy of the 7 series.
The LS460 was the second Lexus to debut with L-finesse, which was a unique design language ahead of its time.

I see some bangle butt in the LS460 design, the bangle butt was never that bad. The big problem with the 07 is that the design is just so tame and boring. The new 13 model addressed that and has the best spindle front end by far, its a much better looking car. It's also got a much better interior but remote touch still sucks and it needs a touch screen alternative but I doubt that will ever happen.

I feel the overall shape of the car (not the front end) is very similar but everyone sees something different. The point I was trying to make is that Lexus was also criticized for copying designs and they're doing fine today. If Genesis is copying designs I'm sure they'll be fine as well. I'd have never mentioned the 7-Series if I could foresee that it was going to completely derail the discussion...

Not a great deal. Still didn't care for the general Bangle-Butt look, though. It wouldn't necessarily be a deal-breaker for me, though...I don't usually base a buying decision on trunk shape.
